Yes, they are back. The infamous twins of Facebook fame have quite a stake in the Bitcoin trade and have developed a price tracker to reflect a more accurate true value of Bitcoin through the various exchanges.

“The creation of an index that better reflects accurate pricing is the next step in wider acceptance of Bitcoin as an asset class,”

Winkdex sounds like what Viagra was developed to combat.

Since they own a substantial amount of bitcoins, doesn't this automatically ruin the credibility of the bitcoin value they deem to be the most accurate?

Also, really fucking stupid name.

I think all the people saying, "support bit coin, screw the USD" or "screw government control" did more damage than anyone. Personally it made it seem anti-government and would make me shy away from it. Increases chances of governments being anti-bit coin.

Those people should of been saying, "supports a free market with free and open trade!" Ect.

Bitcoin, like carbon credits, is a scam that is set up to benefit the very few.

maybe -- I've made way way more money with bitcoin than I ever had with carbon credits, so I'd say I'm benefiting quite a bit.

Carbon Credits Profit: $0
Bitcoin profits: ~$3000 so far

Oh for the record -- "winkdex" has to be the dumbest name you could give to just about anything. Sounds too close to "wankdex" which would be something else entirely.

Hell, even calling it "Mr. Fluffy's Bitcoin Price Tracker" sounds more professional.

I could come up with a slick sounding name in 5 seconds... wait for it. Call it the "Unity Tracker" sounds slick as shit, important as hell, and futuristic.

Pay me... pay me right now :)

Meanwhile SC Johnson's lawyers are circling saying it sounds too much like their brand name window cleaner.

stupidity in it's highest form.

they're in deep in bitcoins...isn't there an inherent conflict of interest in trying to sell this travesty as a credible source on the spot price for bitcoins? DUH!

this only makes investors even more leery. stupid idea, the W twins are still fools with over inflated egos.

Heh, Vinklevosses investing heavily in Bitcoin only asserts my opinion that it's nothing but stupidity.

Oh, please. Someone on this forum the other day referred to "free market worshippers". Because anyone who believes in a free market is some sort of cultist, or something.

There was a concerted effort by many people to discredit Bitcoin along short-sighted, intellectually dishonest arguments. It being "anti-government" was one of them that was pushed by just about every government in the world apart from Switzerland. Global currency holders do not want more competition. Any new competing currency will be categorized as "anti-government", "meant for laundering money or illegal transactions", or "horribly unstable", because if they have no way to track the movement of money, they have no way of taking their cut.

Yeah...the very few who had ATI cards a couple of years ago. Like people here.

Oh...and lately it's been the very few who could afford to drop a whopping 25 bucks on a USB bitcoin miner.

But keep that proletariat bullshit alive!

A day late and a dollar short again. These guys have timing as bad as Hollywood thinking it'd be a good time for another Die Hard movie.

Could you please explain to me what a proletariat would have to do with this situation? You seem to throw words around with no meaning behind their use as if you're choosing to use words based off possible connotative adverse associations rather than actual semantic value.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Winklevoss twins (especially Cameron) are useless pedantic idiots looking for relevance in this modern, fast-paced technical world. They have lost their ass for buying in to bitcoin at peak levels while it dropped to $500+/coin. Their bitcoin exchange was operated by a conartist who now rots in jail and they hold on to dear life via bitcoin in hopes that it takes off. Sorry guys, as long as the US government snubs digital currencies, it will not go to the levels you think it will.

Hm, perhaps you could have tried reading the post I was responding to? Or is that too difficult?

He said Bitcoin is a scam to benefit the very few. The article in question is about a couple of rich guys setting up a Bitcoin-related website. What trait would seem to be implied as to those few? I offered a couple of facts to dispel that notion, and added appropriate flair.

I do hope you enjoyed employing that completely unnecessary verbiage, and that it cured whatever malady they were intended to treat.
