Quite frankly, I was shocked that the EU didn't hit Google with a heavy fine. Seriously, when is the last time the EU didn't levy a huge ass fine against (insert tech giant here) when they had the chance?

Speaking at an antitrust conference, Joaquin Almunia defended the recent deal with Google in which the search giant agreed to certain conditions to settle a long-standing investigation. I am not shocked. IN the world of the self styled progressive, Google and Apple = amazing products from corporate good guys and MS = evil money grubbing corp.
 
He probably figured the European apparatus budget is not going to increase anyway because fines are paid out to member countries... :eek:

Backroom deals is kinda what the EU is based on. Especially since ~2006 when their proposed "constitution" got voted down in every country the people were given a say about it....
