ASUSTOR Inc., a leading innovator and provider of network storage solutions, will showcase its innovative series of NAS devices at CES 2014 in Las Vegas from January 6th – 9th. At the show, ASUSTOR will be exhibiting its 6, 3, and 2 series NAS devices along with debuting its highly anticipated 7 Series models which consist of enterprise-class rackmount devices. Furthermore, ASUSTOR will be shinning the spotlight on ASUSTOR Portal, a brand new high-definition platform that integrates multimedia playback, web browsing and surveillance feeds.

Not sure why anyone would buy a NAS from them when you can build FreeNAS or NAS4Free box for a lot less money then ASUSTOR diskless system.

Thats like asking: Why do people spend hundreds of dollars more on video cards just to get an extra few FPS?

For some of us, saving a few dollars over the convenience and ease of use a pre-built NAS. None of the FreeNAS/NAS4Free/Napp-it/etc interfaces are as good as the offerings from the better NAS vendors. These might be interesting if they can get the price under the Synology/Qnap ones.

I have and have had multiple NAS setups myself, both DIY and prebuilt and they each have their advantages.
