Canada’s plans for a more competitive wireless market has had a setback of sorts, losing another one of its major bidding partners in a government auction set for January for the 700MHz spectrum.

The government's rules for the upcoming auction, as well as for one held in 2008, are aimed at lowering consumer prices by breaking the stronghold that Canada's three dominant players -Rogers Communications Inc, BCE Inc and Telus Corp - have on the country's mobile phone business.

FFFFFFUUUUUUU!!! still stuck with this damn oligopoly.

Just nationalize it, sell it at cost for National Security and Public Safety. And make sure there is cell coverage over the entire nation. Then up the speed to 400Mbps data rate and call yourselves Korea.:cool:

Sometimes, it feels like Korea. Read about the High River firearm seizures.

Apparently you're not familiar with how the Canadian government operates, we're so free market we let everyone "regulate" themselves if the service is non-essential. As a result most of our major service industries have warped into oligopolies and our ministers turn a blind eye to it.
