The UK’s National House-Building Council (NHBC) – which works to protect the United Kingdom’s homeowners by raising the construction standards for new homes – was facing a tough challenge. Its IT desk has to support 500 users – including inspectors, surveyors, and engineers – working from over 1,000 workspaces across the United Kingdom. These remote workers have to rely on Internet connections of varying quality and speed – and while they need multimedia rich apps, they can’t carry a workstation with them everywhere they go. So the NHBC turned to the UK’s Phoenix Software, one of the first companies to integrate our GRID technology into its testing facility.
Its results with NHBC were so good – new applications can be assigned in just seconds, data is all stored centrally, and NHBC workers can now connect to their core applications from anywhere, on any device – that NHBC is now rolling out GRID to all of its workers. NHBC will now be able to deploy new software to all its workers, fast– and workers can break their reliance on aging PCs.
