Anyone looking for a job? I hear the NSA is hiring. ;)

The US National Security Agency has posted an ad for a "Civil Liberties & Privacy Officer," offering critics of the NSA a well-nigh irresistible chance to play the time-honored game of reading between the lines of a job listing. Some of the potentially more ironic phrases:
  • "The candidate "rapidly adapts to...unexpected obstacles,"
  • "deals effectively with pressure; remains optimistic and persistent, even under adversity,"
  • "complies with established control systems and rules," and
  • "perceives organizational...reality and acts accordingly."

I'll do it. Let's see how they react to me being on at least half of their 'lists'.

Applied!

They're only offering 173K/year. The price of freedom really is cheap eh? I wouldn't take that job for $10 million a year. Any dollar amount is an insult to perform that job.

Yeah, they need someone who really knows the law... so that they can circumnavigate it more efficently.

What the NSA really wants (as translated from job requirements):

"deals effectively with pressure; remains optimistic and persistent, even under adversity,"
They are looking for a Yes Man...

"complies with established control systems and rules,"
...who knows how to follow orders...

"perceives organizational...reality and acts accordingly."
...and never questions authority
