Bio-Inspired Speaker Uses Clear Gel To Play Music

Think of all the stuff you could do with this. I particularly like the idea of using this for noise-cancelling soundproof windows.

How about laptops and TVs that don't need ugly speakers slapped on the sides or hanging underneath or sitting beside your keyboard or making your monitor bezel really wide or really tall? The laptop I'm sitting at now could be an inch smaller in two dimensions without sacrificing keyboard or screen size, if it didn't have the speakers.

Seems interesting. Being a gel I wonder how swiftly it drys out and such.

They talk about covering hard surfaces with the gel but that would vastly reduce the gels movement.
This would impact power output (sensitivity/bass strength) and freq response.

Its the gels ability to resonate air that makes it useful, surely it needs to be stretched in free air for best response.
To get any meaningful power out of the gel stuck to a hard surface would need a lot more power which would generate a lot more heat, drying the gel out faster.
They must be developing a non water based gel.
