GIGABYTE GTX 760 OC Version Video Card Review - Today we take an in depth look at GIGABYTE's GeForce GTX 760 OC Version video card (GV-N760OC-2GD). Outfitted with the WindForce 3X cooling design, and sporting a hefty factory overclock, this video card has our attention. We'll compare it to the competition with the GeForce GTX 660 Ti and Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition in today's latest games.

Agreed, why not compare the GTX 760 with the 7950 Boost? There have been a few now at the same price, and they come with several quality games. That being said, I just received my Gigabyte GTX 760 OC last week and love it. My last two Radeons went bad on me so I am boycotting them for a while.

Exactly...7950's go for around the same price.

When I read reviews on [H] I check which cards they compare, I saw a 7870 and stopped right there, and then went straight to the last page checking out the prices.

nice card. but with Sapphire HD 7950 selling for USD 270 this GTX 760 card is by no means the best choice.

this HD 7950 boost is definitely competition. HD 7870 is not any competition for GTX 760 and the prices need to stay around USD 200 for it to be compelling. thats very clear.

If you want a comparison of a GTX 760 to the 7950 HARDOCP did one here:

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/07/02/msi_n760_tf_2gd5oc_gtx_760_overclocking_review/

The reason the comparison is made to the 7870 instead of the 7950 (IMHO) is that the 7950 is a 3GB card with a 384-bit memory bus. The 7870 is a 2GB card with a 256-bit memory bus, the same as the GTX 760.

A quick Newegg search shows that there are 3 7950 cards that are close to the $249.99 MSRP of the stock GTX 760 and the majority reside in the 289.99-319.99. Most of the best deals have mail in rebates in comparison to the $259.99 asking price on the OC'ed GTX 760s. None of the 760's have rebates yet and none are discounted. Lastly, the HD 7950 (according to the review on this site) debuted at $449.99 and has been drastically reduced over the last year and a half it has been on sale.

All of this adds up to the HD 7950 being a card with a higher headroom in resolutions higher than 1080p that can be bought for a little more than the brand new gtx 760. The 760 at 1080p resolutions is comparible to the 7950 but is not in the same class as the AMD 7950. The linked article explains this better than I can.

Just picked up the Gigabyte GTX 760 OC Rev.1.0 yesterday. Seems like there's more of a difference between Revision 1.0 and 2.0 than Gigabyte would like to admit.

Rev. 1.0 has 3 heat pipes Rev. 2.0 looks to have 2. The dimensions of the cards are also a bit different. Looks like different PCBs, maybe the GTX 680 PCB for Rev. 1.0 13.66 cm x 27.5 cm and the GTX 770 PCB 12.9cm x 29.5cm for Rev. 2.0? (Source of card dimensions: Gigabyte website) May be a cost cutting revision vs. an improvement? Just thought I would share that.

This card deserves to be compared against the HD7950 Boost, no excuses. That's its direct competition. The 780 competes with the 7970 Ghz Edition and the 760 naturally competes with the 7950 Boost. The 7800 series isn't even in the same league and it's a joke to see that used in a review of a 760.

Also, the 7950 Boost needs pressure to come down in price, and showing how the 760 competes well against the 7950 Boost will help support the case for a price drop on the 7950s.

Nice card, picked one up with the game (splinter cell) deal. Very quite and cool.

The only difference between them is the fan cover. Rev1.0 is plastic and Rev2.0 is metal. They both have the same exact spec. The Rev1.0 will phase out soon.

So literally the only difference is in the fan cover, one being plastic, the other metal. Therefore revision 1.0 will reflect the performance and overclocking potential of revision 2.0. As you will find out, that overclocking potential is very good.

I bought the 2.0 version of this card and the black housing around the fans is still plastic. I'm not sure what Gigabyte is referring to.
