Right off the bat it’s a sure bet that this will go to court long before you see a working model displayed. Apple’s lawyers are being roused from their Sunday morning sleep as we speak. The patent was applied for in Europe for what is described as a PlayStation Eyepad.
The application says that Sony's controller contains two stereoscopic cameras that are designed to scan something that's placed on top of the device, with the idea that the object could then be translated into a virtual object in a game by being scanned by the cameras.
