Megaupload Trying to Avoid Court Procedures

For those of you that are still following this whole mess, the United States Attorney's office has filed a response to Kim Dotcom's most recent allegations. The government claims Megaupload is just trying to avoid court procedures.

Megaupload.com, the file-sharing website closed by the U.S., is trying to circumvent criminal procedure rules with claims including an accusation the government lied to get search warrants, prosecutors said. The website’s claims are unfounded, they said in a filing yesterday in federal court in Alexandria, Virginia. The U.S. accused Megaupload of generating more than $175 million in criminal proceeds from the exchange of pirated film, music, book and software files when it shut the site last year.

Imagine that. The Department of Justice refuses to admit any hubris or avarice on the part of their efforts to essentially outlaw file-sharing. :rolleyes:

The DOJ is going to have a hell of a time dealing with new site, Mega. It is a hardcore 'fuck you' to the media companies.

And I love it...but at the same time, I know the rest of the top-tier file-sharing companies like Rapidshare and Hotfile and WUpload have all folded. Dotcom's really alone on this one.
 
Gone, but not for long. They will be back with the same shit dotcom is now doing.
 
Not to open a can of worms, but how is Megaupload really any different from Dropbox, Box, Skydrive, or a myriad of products from companies such as Rackspace? Its like saying you an apartment landlord is responsible for a drug deal that went down in one of the units.
 
Except that they rushed Mega to coincide with the anniversary of the raid on Kim. It has lots of issues right and is really Beta if not Alpha.
