I was going to say this was "quote of the day" but, after thinking about it for a while, this is more like "understatement of the day."

After analyzing data from a number of security breaches and responses from 179 participating firms, Radware said that many corporations can be compared to "someone who brings a knife to a gun fight." In other words, businesses are attempting to protect themselves from cyberattacks, but often fail because they do not understand the true nature.

Wasn't that on Mythbusters and they found out that depending on the situation it wasn't a bad idea? :p

Even if they do understand the true nature of cyber attacks, it's a huge uphill battle. Not every IT department in the world is going to be staffed by true cyber security experts, and just about every IT department is likely to be hit by an expert hacker sooner or later. To be fair, defending against cyber attacks is also a more difficult task than performing the attacks. The defender has to plug every hole all the time, the attacker just needs to find one hole or a time when a server is accidentally configured wrong for even a brief period of time.
It's more like all they have is a knife and the gun fight comes to them.
