Porn on a used device? It happens. What I want to know is what kind of person uses a Nintendo 3DS to make homemade porno?

"He said that he didn't take these pictures so I went over to these pictures and I see two people in a bed. I told my dad and I said dad this has porn on it and he got up and went right to the phone," Bryton Giles said. Mark Giles said there were nine graphic images on the device that his boys saw.

Well, more than kids use gaming devices, so in that regard, I'm not surprised.

You would think someone would do their job and check it before re-selling it though.

Dopes.

eh -- if I was 12 or 13 years old and got something like this, I'd probably never tell my parents, as long as there was some boobs or vag in the equation it's watchable :)

3DS porno? Isn't it only like .25 megapixel? Great quality...

Used devices should be wiped completely. I am curious as to if the original customer left those on purpose for strangers to see. Before I sell anything, I make sure the thing is completely wiped and factory settings.

And to think that people claim that GameStop provides no added value for their customers.

Stupid kid, don't ruin it for the rest of us, show those pics. Make the last owner ashamed for neglectfulness ;)

I had bought a used Wii that had some WiiWare games and even a few bucks in the shop but didn't get the porn bonus :(

Watched the video. Pops is setting em up for a lawsuit or miling it for more free shit. He saw nekkid folks having sex. I loved the fake tears from the son. Next time buy new or check your used purchases...

Traumatized? Give me a break. Sex is a natural function and Americans would do well to get over themselves and their puritan attitudes.

Probably. But he was five. There's a difference.

And wherever you are from has nothing in place to keep five year old's from getting porn?
Wow. That must make it so much better there.
If America is so bad, and you dis-like our social and moral standpoints, maybe you should refrain from giving input (in other words, stfu).
Making a bowel movement is a natural function too, but it doesn't mean a five year old should be watching fecophelia either.

A Lakewood dad had to make a return the day after Christmas because the gift literally traumatized his family.

Meanwhile the rest of the world, which has a pair of balls...

I KNEW I was missing an SD card, can't believe I left in in my 3DS before I traded it in for a vita.....

While I personally wouldn't want my 5 year old seeing some pixlelated poRn, I gotta admit the fake tears from the kid and then the "Dad" were about 10000% over the top:rolleyes:..

Well we used to call it parenting. I don't know what you call it now. But common sense dictates that if you buy a used computing device with the capability of storing data, that you check it lest someone leaves data on it that offends your delicate sensibilities.

Making a bowel movement is a natural function too, but it doesn't mean a five year old should be watching fecophelia (sic) either.

Making a bowel movement is not the same thing as coprophilia. This is a logical non sequitur.

It is when she takes a dump on your chest.... Then, I'd wonder if they've been to the same sites I go to... Furry Asian coprophilia lover dot com.

Buying a used item, you do expect it to be wiped, either by the previous owner or the store. But, as a parent (probably over cautious, too), I check to make sure. There are a lot of ways to store digital information, and if it's used, it has a high chance of someone elses stuff on there. I check mostly for curiosity. I wouldn't expect porn, though. Randomness, yes, but not porn.

If my kids saw it, I'd erase it. Maybe call the store to alter their policies to wipe devices before selling (recommend it anyway). But, I'd leave it at that. Kid saw something sexual. Move on. Don't throw a big stink about it. It wasn't intentional. Just bring it to the stores attention, talk to your kid about it and get him playing 3D games.

It's common sense to some extent. As it was mentioned, there is SOME expectation of quality control on the retailers part.

This was my line of thought...I just didn't communicate it well I guess.

wat.

Find nasty photos on device -> somehow entire house catches wind and is horrifically traumatized -> Dad springs right the fuck into action and immediately start making phone calls -> still fucking has the device days later for his precious interview.

I'm not sure if I'd be the worlds worst parent or what because I'd probably find it more amusing than anything. I'd enjoy the "haha what the fuck is this" moment, delete it, and move on. I think I was watching Ripley battle the queen around that age... I'm sure the world would not of ended if I saw some shit quality bappies along the way. This just screams bullshit cashgrab lawsuit to me.

I am not surprised by this. I picked up a 3DS for myself from Gamestop last spring. Mine had the previous owner's SD card in it as well. Guess what, there were pictures on the card. Nothing exciting, looks like the kid used it to take pictures at a birthday party.

First thing I did was wipe the SD card of pictures. 2nd thing I did was find out if the kid had purchased any downloadable games with it. So I now have older versions of MarioKart, Super Mario Brothers (Gameboy (B&W), and NES).

You would think that they would have official processes to erase data and reset devices to factory when they receive the items.

Its not like there are 10 billion consoles hand-helds, It would be very easy to build easy and fast methods to clean these machines.

I am with socK, I would have laughed said "id10ts" and reset the device. Cashgrab and/or anal over-reacting parents.

Must have been some really crazy photos to make them that upset, it looks like hes having a breakdown on camera.

I love how its generally not considered a big deal for kids to watch hyperviolence and over breakfast on the news they can get a play-by-play recap of how a school shooting went down and watch the sobbing parents and what not.

But if a young boy sees some boobies, he will be irreversibly traumatized for life.

Eh, parents are just looking to money grab. The kid either didn't understand what he saw anyhow, or is already looking at it on daddy's computer anyhow. I am pretty sure either way he wasn't traumatized.

Common sense dictates that GameStop would have done it first.

well... what happened is ''sad'' , gamestop should have done their job and cleaned the device completely. On the other hands, why is this news? and the way the reporter try to bend the news so the kid is forever traumatized is plainly stupid. And the kid crying... PLEASE!

ive actually bought a ps vita memory card NEW and it had images on it from some dude in the mirror. i just delted them off wasn't worth my time going to gamestop.

that kid and dad look to be fake crying.

Wtf is a 5 year old doing with a 3DS. Kids these days have it too good.

Funny at all those thinking it's not a big deal for five year olds to see porn. Hard enough to explain good old hetero-missionary sex, I'd like to see you explain oral, anal, DP, and gay/lesbian sex to your five year olds.

I agree with you, but also, you really think the sobbing is legit or is he playing the pity card to get cash settlement from gamestop? Personally I would have just got my free new 3ds that they gave me and moved on. Playing up on this is making this event FAR more memorable to this child after weeks of talking about it, having interviews etc etc.

at that age i would have gone "ewww, dad what is this?" and dad would have deleted it and said 'adults doing gross things, i made it all better!" and would have moved on.

The dad was definitely fishing for an oscar. But my comment was towards those here dismissing off-handedly the five year old seeing porn.
