It appears that at least some of the rumors making the rounds about the next-gen Xbox must have hit pretty close to the mark. Microsoft is reported to be beefing up its security around the Xbox development area on the Redmond campus to insure the secrets of the new Xbox stay within the walls of the Xbox headquarters.

It’s the first time Microsoft has taken this step on such a broad scale. The move represents a cultural shift, giving Microsoft’s key consumer products a level of security more along the lines of those implemented by Apple.

Just pre-ordered Halo 4, I'd be cool if it had SmartGlass functionality

crApple are well known for having terrible security. Are they going to not patch things for 6 months as standard now? :p

Rather keep the consumer screw over secret so as not to throw off the debut frenzy of long lines and stampedes. Windows 8 is probably going to have a lackluster start because they let people see it and discuss what they didn't like about long before it debuts.

So, are they switching developing on OSX or Linux? Xbox360 might even be more secure, but think of the compile times.
