The crew at MadShrimps have taken the AMD Radeon HD 7970 around the block a few times to see what it can do. For comparison purposes, you can see our evaluation here.

Thanks to the new price reductions, the vanilla RADEON HD 7970 from AMD still remains attractive, can deliver quite good performances even at high resolutions as 2560x1440 and when overclocked it becomes a serious competitor even for the Nvidias' flagship, the GTX 680.

Pfff, a review of a stock 7970? Now? The 670 and 680 aren't even included in the benchmarks.
 
maybe they typo'ed? They have 580's in the comparison and then say its a competitor for the 680 series...

Maybe we've been spoiled by [H]ard, but this seems like a rather silly comparison.
 
Speaking of typos, the review is riddled with them along with grammatical errors. The first sentence doesn't even sound right ("At first I would like to thank AMD...").

I'm going to pass on this.
