Today, Google introduced the next-generation Samsung Chromebook and Chromebox. Both are based on Intel® Core™ processors, making it even easier for people to work and live in the cloud. Chrome OS is another example of Intel's unique software strategy to support multiple operating systems that run best on Intel architecture, increasing user choice. As one of the largest contributors to open source, Intel continues to work closely with Google and our OEM partners to help optimize and deliver Chrome devices. With options for Chrome devices ranging from Intel® Atom™ to Intel Core processors, consumers can expect to see additional OEM designs later this year.

If it has the same BoM as a regular notebook, why would I buy a chromebook?

I can see the argument that if all a person does is web based then a Chromebook makes sense from an ease of maintenance standpoint But it's a lot of money for a vastly reduced feature set over a Windows device that cost about the same.

For these things to be interesting they need to cost significantly less than Windows devices otherwise they'll never gain much traction.
