Scientists from the Italian Institute of Technology have been able to treat standard paper with a monomer solution, effectively changing the properties of the paper. The paper has the ability to take on whatever properties that are incorporated into the monomer. The paper can be antibacterial, magnetic, waterproof or self-cleaning without changing the nature or look of the paper.

In addition to uses such as waterproof books and newspapers and antibacterial paper towels, such a paper could be used to protect important documents from humidity, checking the authenticity of banknotes and contracts.

I can't wait to write a novel in longhand at the bottom of a swimming pool. Huzzah.

Italy invents stuff?

"Water-proof paper towels", right, arent paper towels supposed to soak the water off your hands ?
