Microsoft Corp. today announced that its board of directors declared a quarterly dividend of $0.20 per share. The dividend is payable March 8, 2012 to shareholders of record on February 16, 2012. The ex-dividend date will be February 14, 2012. Founded in 1975, Microsoft (Nasdaq “MSFT”) is the worldwide leader in software, services and solutions that help people and businesses realize their full potential.
 
Whoo hoo! :) I get an extra few bucks! At least it covers my loses for the past little while.
 
weren't they already paying a dividend? this gives owners of the stock decent incentive to keep it given it's lackluster performance. Great company with great fundamentals and balance sheet but not volatile enough to speculate a profit from.

This is good news.
 
I could sworn MSFT was already paying a dividend, also. Maybe they just changed the amount paid?
 
is it tied to eps now and wasn't before? or is it fixed now?
