Anti-piracy groups can be just as corrupt as the people they are at war with? Say it isn't so! You have to feel bad for the artists though, they seem to be the only ones that consistently hosed by both sides.

Anti-piracy group BREIN is caught up in a huge copyright scandal in the Netherlands. A musician who composed a track for use at a local film festival later found it being used without permission in an anti-piracy campaign. He is now claiming at least a million euros for the unauthorized distribution of his work on DVDs. To make matters even worse, a board member of a royalty collection agency offered to help the composer to recoup the money, but only if he received 33% of the loot.

He is asking for too little, he should get at least 200k EU for every DVD that was distributed.

It's on over 10 million DVDs, and at 150k per copyright violation, they should pay him $15 trillion.

That's why you have to respect the business decisions of guys like Trent Reznor. He's released whole albums for free. When it came time to tour, his shows sold out because he offered an incredible value for the money spent on the products which he offered. ...that also built his brand to foster support for his work on movie soundtracks and whatever other projects he's went onto.

He should have gone for one BILLION euros. Then make the jury decide what's fair, which will still be enough to make the anti-piracy groups get a taste of their own medicine. AND unlike the people they sue, they DO have the money to pay it!

This is a fair figure, and it's less per song than some awards in favor of anti-piracy groups. They're really getting a bargain.
