I don't usually complain, but why is the 830 so expensive compared to other retailers (MC, cough)

Because MC sells it at a loss to lure you into the store, at which point they hope you will buy other (more expensive) stuff. MC's CPU prices are the worm on a fish hook.

Pretty good price on that 256GB SATA-III Plextor, especially with no damn MIR's (I'm lookin at you OCZ...). Marvell not sandforce controller and 128MB cache are all good. 15k Max read IOPS is the only downside.

Yeah really, Microcenter has the 830 oem for $49 or the 840 retail box for $59. Plus they have some $30 AM3 motherboards to build your uber cheap gaming rig...

Well that's great since the nearest Microcenter is 100+ miles away from me! And i go to their website and that X4 830 deal clearly says "in store pickup only". Nice going Microcenter. Round trip the gas alone (20 MPG, 200+ miles, $30+ for gas) never mind time ruins that "deal".

Great job keeping the good deals from being freely available unless you happen to live near one of their 23 locations in the whole country. Guess they do that on purpose.

Same can be said for Fry's. Many of us miss out on these great box store deals, but its nice to have NewEgg who gets me great products for decent prices. I also love that one of their warehouses are in Menphis, Tn, so sometimes I get my order to the St. Louis area within a day or so for standard UPS (sometimes free) shipping! Who can beat that? Few, very few... if anyone.

Amazon comes darn close for free 2 day shipping to anywhere...

True that. I just happen to live 6 miles from Microcenter and 2 miles to Fry's. It's not worth the gas money unless you found yourself driving nearby anyway. If you knew someone close by that you really trust they could pick up for you, but tax + shipping pretty much kills that...
