AOL (you remember them don’t you) has given notice to those mailing list administrators who remain active with the service to make other arrangements for service. AOL will be shutting down the LISTSERV service on December 1st.

At the peak of the service's popularity in the late 1990s, AOL was the third-largest provider of mailing lists, L-Soft estimated, serving more than a million users.

Listservs still exist? I thought they were old tech like the 2400 baud modem sitting in my closet.

for corporations most definitely. We use L-Softs maestro listserv for our company ad/mailers/etc.

AOL still exists?!

I still know a few people that use LISTSERV. Not through AOL, though. It is an old method for mailing lists, but one that still works very well.
