New Skype 5.5 and 5.6 Removes Google Product Offers

This comes straight from the We knew this was coming file: Microsoft and Skype and now in corporate wedded bliss, so Microsoft thinks it’s time for the renter to move out of the house. Microsoft has removed all of its competitor’s products from Skype.

The big change is that the software no longer offers any third party tools or offers from one of Microsoft's biggest rivals Google, namely Google's popular web browser tool bar.

how do I get 5.6? Both Skype.com and the skype update checker denied a newer version existed (update checker choked at 5.5.0.124, skype.com has 5.5.59.124...

Both of these are still accessible. I'd have figured Microsoft would have rm -rf'd those before doing anything else.

One of the first statements Microsoft made on the acquisition is that Skype development for OSX and Linux would continue uninterrupted.

Why? They would be complete fools to kill those and they know it.
