HTC has issued a statement on that recently discovered security flaw. The company says a fix is on the way and is urging customers to use caution when dealing with "untrusted sources."

HTC is working very diligently to quickly release a security update that will resolve the issue on affected devices. Following a short testing period by our carrier partners, the patch will be sent over-the-air to customers, who will be notified to download and install it. We urge all users to install the update promptly. During this time, as always, we strongly urge customers to use caution when downloading, using, installing and updating applications from untrusted sources.

Here's an idea. Quite putting your junk software on top of the android OS that requires rooting and loading a different ROM to remove. HTC is hardly to only offender in this, but it does highlight one of the problems with the practice.

Heck if the carriers and manufacturers would at least alloy you to remove their junk it wouldn't really be an issue.
