IBM has passed rival tech giant Microsoft in value for the first time since 1996. While IBM has been making steady gains, Microsoft on the other hand, has been dropping in value. This puts IBM as the number two right behind Apple Corporation.

"IBM went beyond technology," Ted Schadler, a Forrester Research analyst told Bloomberg. "They were early to recognise that computing was moving way beyond these boxes on our desks."

As opposed to what? Stacked boxes sitting in an air-conditioned warehouse?

Ha, IBM notebooks have been getting popular as hell lately.

I can't speak for their enterprise computers myself (someone here can), but I'm sure that is booming too

Lenovo, iBM, whatever... the thinkpad! :D

Well...not whatever. It hasn't been IBM for quite a few years now. They don't make any money at all from Lenovo.

But yes, the Lenovo brand has been the fastest growing PC brand the last year or two, but it has nothing to do with IBM anymore.
