Since we are presently dealing with a potential disaster with Hurricane Irene, it’s only fitting to bring some good disaster news. Researchers from Georgia Tech claim to have developed software that will enable cell phones to communicate without the use of cell towers or the Internet. The software is called appropriately named LifeNet and should be available in the near future.

And the software isn't just useful in disaster situations. It could also be used in any region that lacks a reliable communications infrastructure. "

Read the article and checked their site, it looks like its linux based.:(
 
I'm sure this will be adopted to keep your fav p2p running no matter what the emergency. ;)

That I like,:D Its time for a block party, everyone chips in for one connection,and we daisy chain the whole town .:D. good enough for email and web browsing, we can all buy tablets now.
