Hey don't exclude us! If it doesn't work for the UK, then it is good enough to not work for the U.S. too! :D

Last week, UK communications regulator OFCOM published a report which came to the conclusion that blocking ‘pirate’ websites would not be effective. The report contained a number of sensitive government redactions which were easily removed, effectively providing a comprehensive guide to bypass web blocking measures. Since the US government wants to adopt the same technical measures via the PROTECT IP Act, they too will be rendered ineffective using the same methods.

Not that it will stop the government anyhow. Making an intelligent decision that is in favor "Of The People" and not their own pockets is not something I feel they are capable of at this point.

The only thing this would prevent would be somebody punching the site up via their address bar because the second you research what your looking for is when your going to find it whether the address of the site has changed or not. an hour after they took down rojdirecta.com people were going to rojdirecta.es .....its pretty comical don't u think?

Seriously, beating our collective head against the wall is our specialty. Just look at drugs. Did we learn anything from alchohol prohibition...hell no.

As long as people expect the government to take care of them, then the government will want to tell you what to do.

Even though I'm about as anti-drug as can be, I'd support changing the drug laws.

As long as you are not giving/selling them to anyone under 21, then the only penalty should be that you loose all government benefits for a few years. (no walfare, no food stamps, no section 8 housing, etc).

If you want to do drugs fine, just don't expect the taxpayer to support you.

Step 1: Prohibit something that costs a lot to fight because nearly everyone does it. Ensure that there could never be any effective solution outside of Orwellian restriction of freedom and bypassing the Constitution.

Step 2: Siphon a lot of tax money from citizens to pay for it. Redistribute that money to contractors and government agencies who propose "solutions".

Step 3: Collect a lot of money from corporate lobbies while stripping individual freedoms.

Step 4: Wait a few years, ratcheting up the "war" when necessary.

Step 5: You're done. All the money and all the power is yours. Enjoy your everything!

Weren't governments created to help the people, or where they created to take money from the corrupt RIAA and MPAA to take dicks up their ass?

No. The goverment having dealt with all social issues like crumbling cities and lack of growth, and paying back huge debts, has decided it's much more important to stop people sampling media they are unlicenced to veiw. Of course it's not illegal, and should really just be the responsibility of the people who own it, but what the hell!
