The gang at Legit Reviews had a lot of nice things to say about the MSI A75MA-G55 socket FM1 motherboard. Here's a quote from the full review:

When it comes down to it, the MSI A75MA-G55 APU Motherboard did just about everything we asked of it. Comparing the performance numbers from the AMD Radeon HD 6550D on board the AMD A8-3850 APU between the MSI A75MA-G55 and the ASUS F1A75-M Pro the MSI A75MA-G55 came out on top more often than not. When we fired up the MSI A75MA-G55 APU motherboard up with our XFX Radeon HD 6950 we were pleased with the performance numbers that we saw.

Wow, that's a great deal. $100 retail? That's crazy for that great of a board. If I was going to make an HTPC, I'd get this mobo with an A-3850.

Next year the FM2 socket is supposed to come out and will support both Trinity APUs and Komodo CPUs

Which is basically the successor to FM1, though not sure if the two sockets will be compatible...

If FM1 is for the APUs, then what's going to replace AM3+ next year?

I would imagine AM4, but its probably not going to surface till 2013, what ever the next iteration of bulldozer(cpu only) chip will be. Heck we went AM2 to AM2+ to AM3 now to AM3+, that's what makes logical sense to me, AMD is good about keeping socket compatibility.

Id say vs this A8-3850-6550m

AMD please make A8-3950-6990M at 3+ghz part ?? They would make boat loads of cash right away if they did, due to what the 6990m offers for most laptop users, and budget desktops. Id buy a new laptop right away if they came out with that kinda part skew.

no one knows for sure yet but so far its looking like they will completely change to a single socket for APU and standard processors. so FM2 would become the new socket for APU and enthusiast. but we won't know until late 2012/early 2013 when komodo comes out. so theres still plenty of time to enjoy am3+.

lol its impossible to do and AMD isn't that stupid to even bother trying.

That's be 200W in a single chip, if not more. How do you expect to cool that in a laptop?

its actually about 125-130w give or take but still theres no way for a laptop to cool that with a single heatsink.. the whole base of the laptop would have to be the heatsink.

the 6990m is just an underclocked undervolted version of the 6870.
