Don't forget TY-140's, they fit in 120mm holes, which is great. http://www.frozencpu.com/products/11677/fan-755/Thermalright_TR_TY-140_140mm_x_160mm_PWM_Fan_-_900R1300PM_Standard_120mm_Fan_Mount.html
I used to have a 650D, it was great but too loud so I switched for the R3. If the 550D was out when I bought my 650D I would have been all over it. But I don't know if those panels will block enough sound. The 'modu-vents' on my R3 are thick and meaty.
What about a Fractal Define Mini? It's mATX, 6 3.5" bays and all noise dampened.
Edit, this Lian Li PC-Q08 may work as well;

Yea I got it in case I ever upgrade her, she's got a Zotag Mag for her TV to surf on and this one's just extra... but eventually I'll upgrade her with something hella fast and re-use this case.
How quiet is it? I'm building a server in a Fractal Design Define XL and I want to replace the Fractal 180mm for something quieter. But my options are limited to nonames, Fractal, Phobya and Silverstones... or of course block it off completely but since it forces air out back noise may be reduced.
Last one is a Pentium 3 for my mom, she uses it to play Freecell and do basic Cakewalk productions. I shoved it in a Bitfenix Outlaw which was really nice to work with.
unless you are doing audio production this is a complete waste of time. for the same money you can get an amazing 5.1 or 7.1 system or a cheap system + upgrade.
Do you do audio production? heh.
I bought the laptop used and it is not under warranty. Also I've already taken the laptop apart to add more ram and extend the wifi antenna all around the screen so this isn't an issue.
I'm more concerned over what type of paint, what grit paper I should start/work/end with and how to get a...
I'll be painting my Inspiron 9300, but only the top bit of it... hard to describe but the bottom is a nice black I do enjoy and the keyboard colour is just fine at black also.
I'm looking for suggestions and advice on how to do this, I found instructions on removing the parts I want to on...
Back in the day I had my mouse at 125hz monitor refresh at 125hz and q3 maxfps at 125, it feels the same as keeping 60refresh with no vsync and 500hz mouse with q3 still at 125 maxfps
I don't think console games should be counted in the next "pro" games thread. I find using a control pad to aim, shoot and move with ruins any "pro" aspect. I've won many a Quake 3 OSP and CPMA lans locally. I have always and will always consider kb/mouse to be the pro standard. You won't be...
But then it's harder to see people. If I wanted to hide behind shadow's I'd play BF2142, but then I'd have to worry about the guy with the ass computer that doesn't have any shadows. Or few trees, and then it makes me hiding worthless:(
You guys are too caught up on eye candy. I've been playing pretty much just Quake3 CPMA for the past 6 years at this quality. And it's 10x more fun than any high eye candy game released with half assed expectations.
Drunk as shit playing Quake 3 CPMA on some server, getting double midaired by a pylon and laughed so hard I fell back in my computer chair. It hurt. =|
