That's what I figured, but the instruction manual shows the PSU going in fan up. In any event, on my Corsair, the cables exit on the side closest to the mobo when it's in the normal orientation (fan down). This made the decision an easy one since the cables go neatly into slots for hiding the...
Just got my H2. I do like it so far.
Question: I think with the open bottom and removable filter, I am going to mount my Corsair 620w PSU so that it sucks in from the bottom. It will sit on a desk, not on carpet. Thoughts?
Exactly. A great game 5 years ago was forced off the market and their alternative is garbage and not updated like Papy's was. For that alone, I can't forgive EA. Then, they released 2142 and it has so many bugs.... sigh.
Used to be a decent NASCAR sim on the PC market, then EA bought exclusivity. So, Papyrus goes away and now another season passes with an updated console version and no love for the PC.
I only get the DVD prompt error when I try to start the singleplayer or when I try to switch from multiplayer to SP. This is consistent with what I've read on other forums. Since the MP apparently does not do a DVD check, this is the reason folks like me with this problem can play MP just...
I browsed around the official Infinity Ward forums and the solution suggested there is to get a no-DVD fix. I am a little reluctant to go this route, but nothing else has worked to this point. Last thing I want to do is get Punkbuster mad at me, so to speak, but darned if nothing else works so...
Appreciate the reply.
The only burning software I have on the machine is the Nero suite that came with the drive, Nero Essentials 7. I'd read that programs of that type might cause these issues, but I don't have any of them. Stumped.
Bringing this back up to the top...
I just bought this game last week and have the same problem. I'm not running any emulation software or anything like it. Google has not really helped a lot--I've tried most of the things suggested there. Has anyone here got any more information on this...
Right... my number was a little out of thin air, just to compare to the late-2007 deals on the A2. Another poster had some good points too on why/how Toshiba was able to get the players down that low. $200 might be still a little high, but I guess one of my hesitations at spending much more...
Maybe not, but I think you missed my point--I'm not talking about a literal match to the A2. My only point was this: I won't be in until there is a Blu-Ray player (perhaps low-end) at a very low price point, as in the ballpark of $100. I'm just not willing to spend $300-$400 for a DVD player.
Not for me until they price a player I can afford, or perhaps better phrased, one that I will afford. With no effective competition now other than SDVD, it will be interesting to see how long before there is the Blu-Ray equivalent of the $98 HD-A2. Black Friday 2008? Sooner? Perhaps with the...
Cool. My local Best Buy sold out of the X-Fi Fata1ity they had on sale, so I will keep looking for one. I believe Spaceman said they were worth the extra money, and in this case, it's only an extra $20 or so. I can always upgrade the headset later, I guess. Thanks for the fast reply.
Great thread. I am looking to upgrade for late-night gaming and need some headphones to allow the rest of the family to sleep. I presently have a 2ZS, but will likely get into an X-Fi at some point. I would prefer a mic on the set, but am willing to forego it if I have to.
Some options I...
Yeah, I feel the same about mine. Cannot even hear it in my rig. What I can hear is my HD accessing from time to time, such a dramatic difference from my old rig. Since my last PSU died and took the mobo with it, I am glad to have one that I never have to think about again. I think Corsair...
Howdy. The HX620 is a fantastic PSU. As for price, it is $125 shipped after MIR at Buy.com right now. That's a very fair deal in my view. In January, my Antec died on me and it toasted my computer. Now, I am of the opinion that the PSU purchase should not be an area of savings, so to speak...
Nice review, [H]. I grabbed my HX620 about a month ago after seeing a Corsair rep making the rounds here in the [H] Power Supply forums and attending to some customer needs. It was just little stuff, too, but he was taking the time to take care of it. That impressed me enough to look at their...
Now that is sweet. I have a Zalman passive on the way, but I think I like the Premium solution a little better.
Thanks for the heads-up. If you ever post that how-to, please let me know. If I do it, I will post here as well.
Thanks!
What is the SLI Premium heatpipe swap?
Is this something you can order from Asus or where? Yours looks nice.
I have a Deluxe and wouldn't mind making this upgrade myself.
True enough, Jonny.
I love your site, BTW! Between your info and that here, I made what I consider a very well-informed decision on my new PSU for the rebuild, a Corsair HX620W. Thanks for taking the time and effort.
Lawdog
Update: finished my Antec RMA process today. Took exactly two weeks from my faxed request to new PSU arriving. That's pretty good service in my book. Of course I would have preferred not to lose a perfectly good mobo to a PSU death, but that cannot be helped now.
In the end, Antec...
I'd love to see some pictures of the Zalman 9700 NT on an Asus board, since I am about to build one. Evidently, it fits fine and obviously performs great. Pictures anyone?
I ordered my HX620 from Buy.com and it is in transit, scheduled to arrive in a couple days. Plenty fast for the "budget" free shipping.
I've had good luck with them in the past... I've actually been ordering from them for many years on books and things. Hope your experience is good too...

My 620W is on the way...
Based on a ton of reading and serious thought, I decided a short while ago to buy a Corsair. Then I stumbled on this thread and I must say Redbeard, I am impressed. First, that you're here in the trenches with us at all. Second, that you are honest and helpful.
Hats off to Corsair for...
A couple thoughts. I've had good luck with Fry's and Antec rebates in the past. I also like Antec cases (and their many clones).
However, be cautious with their PSUs.... They do not seem to be the quality they used to be. Check out PSU forum here--there are a couple lively Antec...
My computer started making this weird noise on startup about three weeks ago... Everything looked okay and if I had found this thread sooner, I would have looked at the PSU because... Three days ago, my beautiful computer simply cratered with no warning. Looks like the dead and strange...
I've been running this monitor with an Nvidia 7800GS trouble-free for a few months. Recently, however, I've been experiencing random crashes or refusal to wake up the monitor from standby. I wonder if this is a similar driver issue.
Can you explain how you disabled the power saving...
