Is Memtest still good for checking for bad RAM? I've seem RAM past 20+ passes of Memtest v5 but fails Intel Burn Test until I loosen the timing or decrease the speed. I did run both sticks though 10 passes of IBT. They usually fail after 2 passes if they're not stable even though they can pass...
I got a Gigabyte Z97x-UD3H that can't seem to use more than one stick of RAM all of a sudden. It's been running great for over a week but now it won't POST with 2x4GB of RAM. I tried running it with only stick A and only stick B and they both POST so it doesn't look like it's the RAM. I've tried...
I meant the Z97x-UD3H has 10k hours caps while the Z97-A only has 5k hours caps.
It looks like you found the MOSFET heatsink mount on the Z97-A to be a potential problem. Do the heatsinks have an adhesive backing or are the push pins the only thing keeping them secure? I've seen a few reviews...
The Gigabyte does say 10k hrs caps. Caps don't have to completely fail to cause something else to fail. Usually, the drop in capacitance will cause stress to other components and make them more likely to fail over time. I'm probably just going to go with the one that I can find for cheaper.
That isn't a huge problem for me since I can't manage the downtime of waiting to get it fix. Although, it would be nice to have a spare once I send it in for RMA. I almost ruled out Asus because I've read so many people complain about getting back the exact same product with no repair attempted...
I'm looking for a socket 1150 motherboard for a 4690k. I've had great success with Asus and Gigabyte in the past. Are they still the best when it comes to reliability? I'm looking for something that has a good chance of lasting 7yrs. Only requirements are full ATX and less than $150.
I've...
I've gone through five of them and they all have dust between the glass and panel. I tried three different retailers and they all had the same problems. They all had at least one dead pixel and a good amount of dust between the glass and screen. Are there any alternatives for around $200?
I'm...
The M-Audio BX5a has an active crossover network (24 dB/oct Linkwitz-Riley crossover). They used to go for $150-200/pair and the newer version is around $250/pair.
I bought a S2440l last week from Best Buy online since the ones around my place were out of stock due to the sale price. The first one has a couple dead pixels and what looked like dust/dirt stuck between the panel and glass. It looks like there is something putting pressure on the pixel(s). I...
I have these for over a year now and love them. Got them for $150 as well and they're hard to beat for the price. They're bright and bass falls off after around 80hz so most people don't like them since they're accustomed to systems with overpowered bass. They have great highs, good mids, and...
The problem is most students in a regular class don't really care about learning. They usually just see it as something cool at the time and then move on with their normal lives. Most don't want to be bothered to figure out how something works. The difference between the environment between a...
I like to run my systems until the frustration from the lag becomes too much to bear. Three PCs lasted me from fourth grade to today.
Voodoo2 8MB version with a 350mhz Pentium II in Q4 of 1998

Stay away from the uDac-2 for HP. It's okay as a DAC but the HP out is pretty much like onboard sound minus the hiss. I got the uDac-2 mostly because I needed something small and tough for putting in my backpack when traveling. I wouldn't waste my money on FiiO products as a desktop solution...

Above is a more concise version with a chart at the bottom that shows price and sound quality. The S4 isn't that good of a buy at $80...
The CX5 has its own amp inside so no other amp is needed. Try the 1/8" pre-out on the back of the E9. If you don't have the cable or adapter for that then try connecting it to a TV or anything with a RCA audio output that isn't amped. BTW, can you describe the distortion in more detail?
That is actually 16 times the resolution of 1080p. Hard to see broadcasting companies catching up anytime soon with the limited bandwidth due to the lack of spectrum available for satellite companies and maxed out infrastructure for cable companies.
I stopped at COD4. Never found myself playing it for hours like I did with CS, DoD, and TF. I gotta give it to them for sticking with what works, kind of like Apple. It doesn't matter if people are complaining as long as they still end up buying the product.
I've been using Amazon since 2006 and never have had any problems with them. Only negative thing I can say is that the expiration date on their warehouse deals aren't great but they make this known beforehand. It saved me countless trips to the store during college thanks to free Prime for...
I've heard all of them except the RP6G2 but I've heard the RP5G2. I think the CX5 is worth the $100 over the BX5a. It also depends on the kind of sound you like so you should go listen to them in store before buying.
I think they've gone as low as $150 before so they're about the same value wise. If you like bass and don't intend on getting a sub later on then go with the RP5 since they go lower than the BX5a. Be sure to look for shops around your area that sell gears for musicians to see if they have...
It's cheap but it's definitely not awesome. Sure it can get loud but the bass is boomy and uncontrolled. The satellites sound muddy, like they're in a bag.
If space isn't a problem I would go with a stereo receiver and floor standing speakers for a 2.0 setup. They should project the sound...
I've tried both and the RP5G2 does bass better while the BX5a does the mids a tiny bit better and highs a lot better. The RP5G2 has more output and control in the low end. The Bx5a has really clear highs with good decay. The tweeters on the BX5a are amazing compared to other $200 monitors. The...
The RP5G2 has better bass but isn't as detailed as the BX5a in the mids and highs. The bass on the BX5a rolls off below 80hz and is pretty much gone after 60hz and silent as you approach 50hz. Try and listen to both of them if you can before buying. I like the sound of the BX5a better so I got...
I've been having the same issue on my laptop with a 8600gt. The problem is with the gameoverlayui.exe. Go post your GameOverlayUI.exe.log and GameOverlayRenderer.log files on the Steam forum and hopefully someone can help you out. I haven't had any luck with it.
