The Z97-WS costs twice as much as the Z97-A and Gigabyte.

The Gigabyte does say 10k hrs caps. Caps don't have to completely fail to cause something else to fail. Usually, the drop in capacitance will cause stress to other components and make them more likely to fail over time. I'm probably just going to go with the one that I can find for cheaper.

The CX5 has its own amp inside so no other amp is needed. Try the 1/8" pre-out on the back of the E9. If you don't have the cable or adapter for that then try connecting it to a TV or anything with a RCA audio output that isn't amped. BTW, can you describe the distortion in more detail?

I've heard all of them except the RP6G2 but I've heard the RP5G2. I think the CX5 is worth the $100 over the BX5a. It also depends on the kind of sound you like so you should go listen to them in store before buying.

I've been having the same issue on my laptop with a 8600gt. The problem is with the gameoverlayui.exe. Go post your GameOverlayUI.exe.log and GameOverlayRenderer.log files on the Steam forum and hopefully someone can help you out. I haven't had any luck with it.
