I bought an ATI video card instead and it works beautifully out of the box. Until NVIDIA fixes the problem I guess I won't using an NVIDIA card. I could not get the fix to work. XFX did not offer and good solutions for me, they sent a component cable but I don't want to use that.
I tried saving the dat file from Phoenix with extensions=0 and then i went into the registry and found all the instances with OverrideEdidFlags0 in it and changed the numbers but it still doesn't work.
I'm reading that posting right now, I'm glad that works, I'm gonna try it right now, you just change the numbers in the line you add into the inf file right?
Since I'm at work and my monitor is at home, can someone run this program: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/dump_edid.html
do something like: dumpedit.exe > c:\l246wp.txt
dump the edid info into a text file then post it here, it'll be useful info for everyone.
I can set the correct resolution "1920x1200" in the control panel or windows. I think what I will need to adjust to make this work are the horiz and vert frequencies, I'm not sure if you can do that by editing the inf file. The monitor may be reporting back the wrong frequencies but I have not...
Yeah, that's a great way to do it, gaming + movies. If the new rev of the ps3 isn't too expensive i might get that, but until then, I'll be watching it on my pc.
Thanks, thats more reassuring. My previous card was XFX too and I never had any problems.
BestBuy just announced they are promoting blue-ray by the way, don't know if your interested. I bought this monitor pretty much solely for blue-ray.
Naw I don't game, my computer is geared towards media and quiet. I haven't bought an ATI video card in a while so I might try the Radeon HD 2600XT, which according to tomshardware is actually faster then 8600gt. I don't need anything fast, but I want h.264 hardware decoding.
I might try out...
Called XFX three times, couldn't get through. I have E-mailed them and it says they promise to reply. It seems to me its only a 8600 problem but we will see. The only reason I bought it was for purevideo hd though.
Still need to call XFX. I could not find anyway to install the drivers without installing the control panel. Even if I uninstall the drivers, redetect and manual select the driver it will always install the control panel. The driver automatically installs it.
I was using XP when I first had this problem and I wanted to switch to vista anyhow so I did. It is a very strange problem and I have not found much info on it.
I'm trying my best to make it work as I just found out looking at the receipt that they charged me about $120 less. I bought it for...
Yeah custom resolution dissapeared after i switched to vista today. It didn't help though, I think the computer is setting the right resolution but the monitor is not detecting the signal correctly. Perhaps I should just get the 8800gtx, but its really taking my chances.
I can select 1920x1200 but the screen is offset to the left, there is no way to move it. I think the display is detecting the wrong mode, its stuck in "1080p hdmi" even when i use 1920*1200. 1920x1080 works fine.
I went over to my friends to try it on his 8600gts and it does the same thing. I have a 8600gt and I've tried 169.32,169.28,171.16 and all of them give me the same problem. I'm about to get an ati 2600xt to try out or something. I wonder if it's the monitor??
I noticed that during boot up, if you press the ok/auto button, it says "1920x1200 hdmi" but once i get into windows, it says "1080p hdmi"
I don't think my xfx 8600gt likes this monitor. I tried it on an old ati 9800 pro and it works just fine.
I tried using the windows settings but i can't get it to display 1920x1080 without the screen being offset. I really like this LCD but if this doesn't work out I'm gonna have to return it.
Could you tell me what video card your using? Windows Vista? Forceware version? Any specific settings you made on the monitor? My screen won't center when I use the DVI connection. Thanks.
Yeah changing it to video seems to get the correct refresh rate but now the picture is too big. Resizing desktop in nvidia control panel or adjusting the arc on the monitor doesn't fix the problem.
Yeah, it is set to hdmi. I think it is a refresh rate issue. In the maunal it says it needs 60hz vertical and 67.50khz horizontal but inside nvidia control panel it says horizontal scan rate is 74khz. I have no way of adjusting the frequency.
I bought this monitor today and I have it hooked up with dvi to my 8600gt. The whole image is skewed or offset to the left. I am using 1920x1200 32bit 60hz. Is there something I am missing here? I am also using the drivers on the CD. Running Windows XP 32-bit. I can't find a way to center the image.
