Ok, so I'm not banned yet. Damn.
I did not say "everyone thinks Kyle is an arrogant asshole" I said I think he is arrogant, not everyone thinks he is. The word "asshole" was nowhere in my PM.
I did not say "everyone bashes him, and I am always defending him". I said I am a member of...
You're right on all counts. And you pointed out a reason that mirra box would suck just as bad as a RAID 1 setup for backups...it will copy that virus or whatever just as faithfully as a mirrored drive will. And you would not have an uncontaimated image to restore.
The LiveState is exactly...
If you want on-the-fly backups, there's an even cheaper solution. It's called RAID 1. A drive and a cable.
If you want archival storage, LiveState is ideal. You do a full backup on each machine once, then incrementals on whatever schedule you choose.
The ability to put a brand new drive...
That mirra box looks interesting...but it's pretty pricey for backups use.
You can get Symantec's LiveState Recovery desktop edition for 66 bucks 10 licences (http://www.symantecstore.com/dr/sat2/ec_MAIN.Entry10?V1=668107&PN=1&SP=10023&xid=49999&DSP=&CUR=840&PGRP=0&CACHE_ID=0) a 300GB...

That's where I get mine. Not a problem yet (knock wood).
For a new (boxed) one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5790483547&category=51196&rd=1
go into startup in msconfig, turn things off one at a time and restart the machine until it comes up normally. that should tell you what's bogging you down. leave the last thing you disabled off, turn the rest back on, then figure out what the offender is and if you really need it.
It'll probably work fine. I prefer to go with bigger names, they seem to have less issues. My preference is the Intel GB NICs....every uSoft OS from 98SE on up supports them right out of the box, and Windows update loads new drivers whenever they come out for them.
The tool I have doesn't...I use my thumbnail to spread them back out. They bend pretty easily. Be careful though, they can be bent too far and snap off.
If you look down inside the molex connector you'll see little tabs (barbs) sticking out from the sides of the pins, keeping them from pulling out of the plastic. Same theory as a fish hook, goes in but the barb keeps it from coming out.
The tool just slides over the pin and pushes those...
Thanks for the answers. What my plan is (for now) is to shut off the MP system (losing valuable folding points). That brings the system bench down to about 540 watts. I'm going to spin down all the TiVo units, spin them back up as I get potential buyers, saves 220 watts. Unplug one of the...
Might take a peek at the Via all-in-one boards:

I got a Kill-A-Watt electric usage meter. The two dually systems, both running 100% folding, with the peripherals, etc., my computer bench is eating 760 watts.
My bench for the radio, weather, TiVo hacking, etc. is eating another 320.
The room lighting is using 65 watts (high effeciency...
You don't have to order a new BIOS chip. The board will POST far enough to let you use the Asus EZ Flash utility, even with a X2 chip in it. Just have the updated BIOS ready on a floppy. I've heard bad things about the 1014 version, so I stuck with the 1013.
How to do it is in your user's...
I was 16 at the time...it was 1976 -1977..legally not even supposed to be in the building. It was owned by a 'sort of ' girlfriend's father, basically he let me work just to get me out of my house. I did tune-ups on cars in his parking lot (Rustic Hills Mall in case Steel Chicken reads this...
Do the Socket A MP chips count? If so I have two of those running in a box. Also wife has a XP1.8, kid # 2 has a 2600 Sempron SA, kid #3 has a 1.2 Duron.
I want in! ( new position..."dually chief"? )
I sure hope you're right.
Truthfully I'd rather not see Intel get stomped on with crap like "monetary damages". Rather just see them be told to stop with the strong-arm tactics, if it's proven true. Don't see any manufacturer lowering prices anytime soon after they got hit with a major...
[[edit] I read your post wrong about the mount of memory wasted.] Between Bryce 3D and two folding threads with no memory limits, I could fill 4GB. But, the motherboard I have A8V Deluxe, even the manual says the Via chipset {paraphrase} 'may have an issue recognizing the full 4GB'. But to...
Didn't even consider that, paging RAM to RAM. Guess that would be an excersize in futility!
I think I'm just going to let things be the way they are, PF-wise. I'm regretting having bought 4 half-gig sticks, when 4 full gig sticks wouldn't have been that much more $$$. Then for sure I...
Ever hear the saying "even bad publicity is good publicity"? Even if nothing comes out of the suit, at least AMD's name will be a little closer to a household name.
I read the entire suit paperwork, and have been reading articles about the suit since. Several big-name consulting...
