Galaxy 7th Week of Christmas Give-Aways!

Two graphics cards are better than one because I can put one in my main rig and one in my backup rig so I can play with my broke ass friends who can't afford pc gaming.

    Picking a new 20" or 22" monitor

I do plan on playing older games like Original Half life series and Max Payne as well as newer games like COD4 stuff based on the source engine and both FarCry's.

    Picking a new 20" or 22" monitor

I haven't really been in the know with computers lately and never have been when it comes to monitors. That said I would like to get a 20" or 22" monitor now and add a second one in a couple of months. I heard from a friend not to go with a 22" because it stretches the image to make it fit the...

If you need room for a lot of hard drives the A16 would probably suit you well but it cost more then the A05 and other mentioned. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112132

    Two systems in one case?

I would go for the Mountain mods case. It costs a little more but by the time you mod the Lian Li and go through the troubles it is probably worth the price difference not to mention MM cases are built very solid.

MOBO + Processor Combo Help Me Choose!

I would go for some Cloverton's or if price does not allow put just one in and upgrade later. Get some quality ram, I tend to lean toward crucial for such applications. Great price and quality. A Silverstone PSU 850watt and up. Lastly get him some nice HDD's for his space needs, I'm guessing it...

Best non SLI am2 board for ~150 or less

The Asus 570 SLI is $130 at newegg and $100 for the non SLI. I own the Tforce 550 and it is a good board, especially for the money. I would definitely go for the eVGA at that price as it is essentially a Foxconn board. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131013...

    Antec Sonata case mod

I got the Rad all wire up and ready to go. I will make some extenders to hook the fans up to the Fanbus. The painting is coming along well but I am quickly learning about runs. Edit: Do you guys think I should paint the rad flat black or white or just leave it as it is? Tim

    P180B = P182 ???

Although I think the P182SE is a bit over priced it is about time that the inside of a case came painted/anodized. It is ridiculous to pay over $200 for a case and it not to be painted inside and out.

    Antec Sonata case mod

Its a 188cc Powroll engine based off of a Honda block. All air cooled and puts out around 40hp on methanol. Our little 188cc ran with the big 230cc-250cc guys as we had some stuff done different internally. They hit about 65mph tops on a 1/20mile track, easily could have gone over 100 had we...

No problem on the OT. I used to race Quarter Midgets. In the pictures below are some of the car and some of the motor. The car wasn't too pretty but thats ok as I am a big kid and we needed to keep weight down in order to compete, and it worked :D...

    Antec Sonata case mod

Thanks Shakko. I will try and get some more done on it today but there isn't a whole lot I can get done until the weather is satisfactory for painting. Hopefully I can make it to the store and get some new tools I need.

    Antec Sonata case mod

Well yet again weather is keeping me from having good days for painting so I did some other kind of work on the case today. I didn't want to hack at the case anymore so I decided to put the cold cathode switch as part of the fan bus. Tomorrow I will get a little file and I'll mock fit her...

Can someone recommend cooler for me?

The Tuniq Tower 120, ThermalRight Ultra 120 and Noctua are all great coolers but around $50 iirc. Petra's has the Scythe Ninja or something on sale for $36, the only downside I see to that cooler is the stupid clip mounting.

    ASUS Striker

The striker is definitely a solid board but I don't know that it is worth all the extra money over the P5N32-E SLI. If you go with one of those two boards you will be happy either way.

    Project: Galaxy 4.0

I am sure you will be pleased with the board. IT runs nice and solid just doesn't like running memory at 1t. Also being that you don't like noise you may want to look into switching out the chipset cooler.

    best 680i mobo

You would probably notice only a minimal difference if anything at all. More phases usually shows benefits in really high end oc'ing not the average stuff.

Best mobo for running 4x1GB DDR2 800MHz RAM?

If you do not have a problem running a 680i based board the P5N32-E SLI appears to be promising. My friend has had 4x1gigs of high end ram running at 3-3-3 405mhz single 32m stable. He says it is in 1t but atm we are not sure if the mobo is stating 1t and actaully running 2t.

    best 680i mobo

The source where I got the information from said the Gigabyte board may be released around mid march. Twelve phase power is nice as it should provide cleaner/more efficient power to the cpu. Lastly for ram what you have selected will run in either board. I have ddr2 667 ram in a ddr2 800 mobo...

should i stay or should i go?

I would go with the following: Either the E6400 or E6600 depending on how much you want to spend Asus P5N32-E SLI unless evga is significantly cheaper 8800GTX with brand of choice 2x1024gb of ram with brand of choice The E6600 is better if you are shooting for more of a 3.8gig overclock...

    best 680i mobo

The gigabyte with its 12 phase power does look promising but who knows hoe much it will cost. http://www.ocxtreme.org/forumenus/showthread.php?t=10 For boards that are currently out the Asus P5N32-E SLI is your best bet. Also if you have a quadcore processor many have had troubles with them...

    Good mobo for the E6600?

I think the 975X will treat you better in the long run if you have no plans of going SLI as it is a faster chipset.

should i stay or should i go?

Do you plan on oc'ing and are you looking at 4x1gb or 2x2gb? The reason I ask is because you could up the CPU now and throw in an extra 2gigs later. I wouldn't wait for R600 (never know when it will actually come out) but 8900 may be worth waiting for. From the post above I would say wait a...

    P180, 900, or Lian Li PC65?

The 900 can also be a pita to make tidy, it can be done with lots and lots of effort though. The Lian Li should be easy to tuck the extra wires out of the way near the top and should be relatively easy to route wires cleanly.

    Antec Sonata case mod

It has been a while since I have posted an update. Lian Li and Silverstone... what else is out there?

It is a shame. I know someone in Taiwan with one of those and they are just amazing cases. Thought about importing a case from them at one time but funding was not their. Back On topic it looks like you are back down to Silverstone or Lian Li as no one else is on par with them.
