This past weekend I tested my FT03 mini with a 140mm Lepa Vortex PWM fan. My rig has the ASUS P8Z77-I MB a 3770k CPU and a H60 cooler. No GPU is installed at this time. I am utilizing the Intel HD4000 integrated graphics. The fan is connected to the CPU fan header and the H60 pump is connected...
Hey WiSK,
The120mm Hyperborea was superior (thermal & noise) to the Silverstone AP121 when tested on the H80 radiator. I'm hopeful that the 140mm Hyperborea performs as well in relation to the AP141 when mounted to a H60. I ordered one, at $10 it's worth testing it against the Lepa Vortex.
The 120mm Rosewill Hyperborea PWM was recomended in Anandtech's recent 120mm Radiator Fan Test. http://www.anandtech.com/show/6391/120mm-radiator-fan-roundup-part-2-fan-harder/7
They also make it in 140mm. It has Hydro Dynamic Bearings, 600-1300 RPM and a sleaved cable. It's also a bargain at...
I've searced also and looked at the Akasa's. The Viper was tested by X-bit labs along with the AP141 and Lepa Vortex. The Akasa has good air flow bit is loud, It may be okay at typical CPU temps where the PWM controller would slow it down. The SilentWings 2 PWM isn't available in this country, I...
Hey WiSK,
I tested the Asus P8Z77-I fan controls per your request. After selecting the "silent" Q-fan profile for both headers in the bios, saving and re-starting, in Fan Xpert I can run a fan calibration for the CPU but not the case fan. When the case fan is selected the button to run the...
I'm reporting back the results of my attempts to have the Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe control the FT03 mini's AP141 case fan. I switched the leads for the H60 pump and AP141 so that the case fan is now connected to the CHA header and the pump is on the CPU header. In the bios I disabled the Q-fan...
Houten, My build is very similar to your parts list.
Case: FT03 mini
Processor: i7-3770k
Mobo: P8Z77-I Deluxe
RAM: GSkill 16MB 1866mhz
GPU: none yet shopping for a deal on a GTX660 - EVGA, Galaxy or PNY that uses the blower style cooler
CPU Cooler: Corsair H60
PSU: ST45SF-G with a...

This looks to be a great case fan for the FT03 mini.

Thanks for the link. Looks like I'm wrong about the CHA header. I have my H60 pump attached to it so I didn't attempt to control it's speed. Tonight I'll switch headers and set up the bios voltage control of the AP141 fan. Asus has done a poor job of documenting the capabhilities of...
eatkabab,
That fan controller might work for you, I suspect you are stuck with what ever temp/fan speed profile it comes with and where do you put the temp. probe? The Asus P8Z77-I PWM fan controller is an elegant solution. For each fan header you can select from 4 pre-programed profiles or...
Hey WiSK,
The ASUS MB does not support voltage control of either fan header. The bios has Q-fan control which like the fan xpert software requires PWM 4 wire fans. I am using a Cosair H60 liquid cooler and per their recomendation I have the pump conected to the chassis fan header and the case...
Syn, the 2 reviews of the Lepa fan did not mention grinding noises. Have you experienced this issue yourself? I already ordered one so I'll give it a go and report my results.
I fired up my FT03 mini for the first time this past weekend. It's complete except for the video card. I am hoping to get a good deal a blower style GTX660 in the mean time I am using the 3770k integrated graphics. I'm running a Corsair H60 and a Silvertone 450w gold modular PS with the fan...

I would have started a new thread for this but I don't have enough posts.
I am building a FT03 Mini with this PS. I powered up the power supply only, using a jumper on the atx connector, to check the fan noise. It was audible at a couple feet away, with my ear close to it I would describe it as ball bearing rattle. I replaced the fan with this NMB fan AKA a Panflo LNA...
I was able to make the 24pin ATX connector clear the optical bracket with the PS fan facing the MB with a couple of simple mods. I used a razor blde to shave off the plastic clip on the 24pin cable it was dead simple took 2 seconds. I can't imagine this will create any issues for me as the cable...
Pjalchemist, I am interseed in your build. I have this case and modular PS arriving Tomarrow, the rest of the parts for my build will be bought over the next few months. I would like to shorten the cables to keep down the case clutter but have not done this before. Is there a guide somewhere you...
The Terk TV55 is a $100 turd. I'm 25 miles from the transmitter towers and with the Terk mounted on a 6 ' mast on top of my two story house I could only recieve 4 of 7 digital channels. I replaced the Terk with a winegard PR-4400 for $16 (similar to a ChannelMaster 4 bay UHF) and I get a strong...
Gigabyte has the GV-NX66T128VP coming out, 6600gt with heatpipe and overclocked. I want this one for my HTPC. Check out their web site, usa site doesn't show clock speeds but google it and you will find the specs on some foriegn sites.
