Corsair 280X Micro-ATX Case with AIO in Mind

I would like to see a front USB-C connector. Agree on the whole sans fans and RGB controller too. Would be nice to have a cheaper option without that stuff. Otherwise, looks great. Count me interested.

20 Of The Worst PC Setups

The pic on the front page has a case from an old Gateway 2000 case from the 486/Pentium 1 days. Brings back fond memories of the one I had. Looks like it has one of those dual 5.25/3.5 floppy drives too. Even though I thought that machine was the best back in '96, I gotta wonder why someone...

    HBA Recommendation for X58 system

I had this problem too until I found the "cover the pins" trick. I used a very small piece of electrical tape. I also wrapped the tape ever-so-slightly to the other side (but without covering the pins on the other side) to make sure it stayed in place while inserting the card into the slot...

Uber Sets Valuation Record Of $17B

Uber is basically a cab company. Is a NYC cab company worth $17B? I doubt it. Then why would Uber be worth that much?

    Offline Scanning on SAS drives

I was hoping for an easy utility that could modify parameters of the drive but after further research, I think it's more involved than that. It looks like I need a 232 to TTL adapter and connect it up to the extra pins next to the data cable on the drive. Seems doable if I get the adapter but...

    Offline Scanning on SAS drives

Windows 7. I'm using the SAS ports on my Asus P6T Deluxe motherboard if that helps. The Seagate Tools software works with the drive OK but doesn't appear to have the ability to change parameters. Probably because turning off offline scanning would void the warranty but I don't care about that.

    Offline Scanning on SAS drives

I have a Seagate Constellation ES.2 drive I'm using in my desktop for mass storage. There's a feature with the enterprise class drives that auto scans the hard drives for problems when the drive is idle. Since the drive is idle most of the time, the constant hard drive seeking noise is driving...

    The [H]ardForum Perpetual Freebies Thread

Hi Everyone, I'm looking for a heat sink that fits a socket A (462) motherboard and supports up to a Athlon XP 3200+ processor. It can be one of the heatsinks that requires mounting holes. What I have for free: Pentium III 500MHz Slot A processor pulled from a Dell 56K Modems, both ISA...

WTT: my Seagate cheetah 15k.6 146GB for 300GB Velociraptor

Looking to trade or sell my Seagate Cheetah 15k.6 146GB SAS drive. Very lightly used, low hours, and it is very fast. Got it mainly to experiment with SAS. I can provide benchmarks or health reports if interested. There is one scratch in the top corner of the drive that in no way affects...

Bottled Water Is Out, Boxed Water Is In!

Canned water. That's hilarious. I was curious not only where this company is located but also where they get their water. Lo and behold, the website says they are located in Grand Rapids, MI and get their water from Minnesota. From their description, it looks like all they do is filter the...

    HD silencer recommendation

I'd be open to the idea of an external enclosure but it would have to support SAS and I'd rather not have it be some homemade thing. Even if I put it in an external enclosure, I'd probably still need it inside the case since the SAS ports are on the motherboard (P6T Deluxe). There's probably...

    HD silencer recommendation

I should probably add that it's mounted in a Silverstone TJ09 case, which has thin foam strips that press against the sides of the hard drive so I don't think case vibrations is the issue. What's not helping is the mesh screen right next to the hard drive cages letting all the sound through...

    HD silencer recommendation

I'm looking to quiet down my Seagate Cheetah 15K.6 SAS drive. While not horrible, it's still louder than my case fans at idle and the seeks are a bit loud for my tastes too. It's running as cool as my 7200RPM drive so I think it should be fine to enclose it. Can anyone recommend a hard drive...

Full cover WB for GTX 280 good idea?

I'm debating between putting a full cover water block on my GTX 280 or if I should go with a 'universal' WB and use a uni-sink design to cover the RAM, mosfets, etc. Generally, the 'universal' block plus the uni-sink ends up being a little cheaper than a full cover block with the potential...

Seagate FreeAgent ST315005FDA2E1RK 1.5TB External Hard Drive USB $119.99 Free Shippin

Just got my new WD HDD from newegg

I got sucked into a good deal on a 2.5" 7200RPM drive from Newegg and bought it even though I've heard of reports like this. Wouldn't you know it, the SATA connector was busted on it when I received it. While this could have happened even before Newegg received it since the damage couldn't be...
