Hi,
I will say this, my all AMD system (Phenom II, 780G chipset and HD5870) may not be the fastest system, but it is one of my most stable systems I've built in >15 years. It just works and that makes me happy.
@Danny Bui - No whine at all. I have a total of three Antec TruePower PS (380, 450 and 650W) for several years now with no issues whatsoever (Knock on wood).
I am FAR more fearful of a failed HD affecting me than a under wattage PS.
I'm confident my next media server will use LESS power while...
Hi guys,
I have a home-built MS WHS box with an AMD Phenom X4 9550 (Underclocked to 1.6GHz), Asus mobo (780G chipset), 2GB DDR2 RAM and four 1TB Seagate (7200 RPM). I currently have an Antec TruePower 450 PS running everything perfectly fine.
Out of curiosity of what Cschill1290 claims, I went...
I was able to stuff an ATI Radeon 5870 in a ThermalTake LANBOX (LINK) by removing the vertical hard drive mount. I'm so pleased with the results! It's pretty quiet, blazing fast and energy efficient.
Good luck! ;)
I saw this notebook at a local Best Buy today on sale for only $549:

Understandably, AMD cannot "force" developers to support EF in the new game releases. Dave Baumann which leads the EF group at AMD made the follow comments on WSGF.

I'm for open standards. I discovered the Widescreen Gaming Fourm after I purchased my Eyefinity (EF) setup and was BLOWN AWAY by the amount of community support behind multi-monitor gaming. I quickly realized that the demand for it has been around a lot longer than ATI EF and that a proprietary...
This site is geared toward the extremist and not the average Best Buy customer. I have an Eyefinity setup and I love it! I'm not trying to sell it to you. I'm not looking for a positive confirmation of my decision. To each his own!
The bezels bother me as much as the A-pillar in my car - I'm...
Sorry to hear about your troubles. My setup has been far less problematic. Dirt2, Batman - Arkham, NFS: Shift, L4D, Hawx, and HL2 = No probs.
Assasin Creed on the other hand stopped working all together after mucking with the config.ini file... :(
I'm looking forward to more new titles...
Good review guys. Looking forward to the full version review.
One small suggestion: Please post the photos side-by-side for easier comparison.
Thanks again! ;)
I have an ATI HD5870 and I was very pleased with the performance of the Dirt 2 demo with all DirectX 11 settings MAXED. I really appreciated the water special effects - They are by far the best I've seen to date. I'm eager to see what other game developers do with the DirectX 11.
I'm anxiously...

I'm thrilled using the same models for my Eyefinity setup.
Hi chronox12,
I purchased the same monitors (Dell P2310H) for my Eyefinity setup.
"Wild" is the first thing that came out of my mouth!
I think you'll be impressed as well.
Some may argue that the 1980x1200 monitors would be more effective in the Portrait mode. I dunno... I'm happy with my purchase.
I made the jump as well to Eyefinity! I purchased 3 Dell P2310H monitors LINK for ~$725 shipped after coupons and other discounts. The monitors should arrive by this Tuesday. All three will be connected to my new XFX HD 5870.
I'll post my finding after I play around with it.
I recently setup a HTPC connected to my 47" 1080P TV via HDMI. My HTPC has a TV tuner device which allows me to pretty much all of the local nationals and PBS off-the-air crystal clear using nothing more than a cheap pair of rabbit ears.
As soon as I figure out how to watch my glorious...
FYI - I'm using a 50' HDMI cable (Tartan Cable 22 AWG) I purchased from Blue Jeans Cable to connect my ATI Radeon HD4850 to a 1080P LG TV. I was pleasantly surprised to find no issues whatsoever.
I just picked up the new HP Wireless Elite Desktop Keyboard and Mouse from Fry's this past week for $46.
I love how thin and sexy the keyboard looks!
