Let's be honest here. This is a first gen product and basically a prototype. Of course it will be expensive. I'm more upset about the prices of normal phones in general that almost all manufacturers keep raising year after year.
I'm stuck in the evga step up queue and it hasn't moved for a week now. Demand is there but I think it's more of a supply issue. They had some for the first week and now nothing apart some retailers that put a limited number each day. Thank god I'm not too far now in the queue but I really...
lol. My EK waterblock for the GTX 680 is already in transit and I'm still in queue for in the evga step up program. Well the GTX580 can still take care of me in the meantime...
You have valid points. And yes I guess some people were waiting to see what kepler would look like before making a purchase. I have no allegiance to either companies but from threads we see on forums I would be curious to see the number of "devotees" on each side ;) Sure looks pretty even on...
I have to be patient since I'm using evga step up program but when the AMD launched the 7970 I grabbed one for someone and it was a lot more available. Sure stock was coming and going but nothing like this! 1 minute it's in stock and the next it's out of stock....from all companies.
Either...

While I agree, It's not like the HD7970 can't do battle with the 680, AMD will have to get their act together with drivers. Just look at the article posted by Kyle here about how disconnected their drivers team seems to be.
If you are serious about watercooling you'd know that the 1/2" ID vs 3/8" ID debate has been settled for a long time now. Difference has no impact on temps. So choose the size you find more pleasing for you.
Looks good but you know you could have bought a D5 top that would have increased its performance and allowed you to use any size fittings you wanted? Just thought I'd mention it ;)...
Seems like an install mistake to me. A fitting just doesn't blow out! It can leak due to incorrect install or bad/worn oring but that's about it.
Bitspower are very good fittings. No reason to change but if you want there's other brands Alphacool, Enzotech, Koolance etc...
 Read my post again before making stupid comments.
I said that a defective card + official drivers still not released is not acceptable to me. Since I need to return the card anyway because it's defective and the official drivers are still not ready I decided to get a refund and...
Well my 7970 using the recommended RC drivers is stable in windows but artifacts like hell with benchmark tools. Everything stock. May be a fluke and probably is but the fact that no official drivers have been released yet and that the card is defective at stock clocks is not something I find...
Price is also a factor. If you are getting a good deal on a used GTX 580 3GB Classified, you'll still get a great card. But it has to be a good deal. If the price asked is close to what a 7970 is then walk away.
I like both camps, use both of them and frankly don't understand why some people take it so personal with their hardware...Grow up. Get a life.
This thread needs to be closed.
 well that's the problem. Some people are saying "the GTX 580 is plenty fast at ultra in BF3 in 1080p" Others say "VRAM is not enough on a 1.5GB GPU in BF3 so if you want to get the best results go HD7970" Then you have the people that are just partial to a company no matter the...
I'm not against dual GPUs setup but I just hear about people that it's more problems like microstuttering etc...
Would another gtx 580 even with 1.5 vram make a big difference in BF3 mutliplayer?
Hi,
I pretty much have all my system parts bought. I use my computer not just for gaming but I do game and tend to upgrade about every 2 years. Here's what is bought:
i7 2600K that will be OC
Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z
16GB ram
256 SSD Crucial
580 GTX 1.5gb
I will be using my...
You could be ok if you only were adding one 7970 but with 2 7970 you will need more rad surface to cool everything at good temps and not too much noise.
