You're right I read my system info wrong, 4gb vram. Edited the original post. I'm not partial towards resolution but going to 1440p seems like it might future proof it a little bit. I don't have a desire to go to 4k.

Update!! I monkeyed around with it this weekend and reseated the video card. This changed things, it STILL freezes but it takes 10+ minutes for it to freeze now as opposed to 10-30 seconds. Seems to me this indicates the card and not the ram. I checked it with different ram and the stuff...
