10 Years Ago Today: NVIDIA vs. ATi

My thoughts exactly. The nVIDIA vs ATI war was pretty epic in 2003, with all the debates going on about performance comparisons, feature sets, optimizations, cheating allegations, etc. between the GeForce FX & Radeon 96xx/97xx/98xx series. Some of the more memorable events I recall: * GeForce...

ASUS Zenbook UX31E shuts off when unplugged

I had the same issue with my Zenbook UX21-E. It seems to be a very common issue with the first generation Zenbooks. The only way to get it fixed is to send it to ASUS RMA for repair. I just sent mine in last week, as it's still covered under the two-year warranty that comes standard with Zenbooks.

Dell Dude Gives The Company Advice

Dell actually wasn't too bad in the late 90s. They became crappy in the early 2000s and even worse around the time they started using the "Dell Guy" in their ads.

Windows 8 is the New XP

Hah, don't make me laugh. When XP launched in 2001, it was a completely different era than where we are now. Back then, the desktop computer was the dominant computing device, with laptops just only beginning ever more popular and Apple just being a minor blip in terms of market share. With...

After 15 Years of Trying, Yahoo Gives Up In Korea

I'm surprised that Yahoo didn't bow out of South Korea earlier, given that NHN's Naver has dominated the Korean search market for years (70% share as of 2011); even big-time player Google is having a hard time maintaining a position in Korea.

NVIDIA's "A New Dawn" Demo Now Available

Ah, Dawn. Brings back memories to the GeForce FX vs Radeon 9700/9800 era. Heh, I wonder if someone will hack this demo to run on AMD cards this time, just like they did nine years ago: http://www.rage3d.com/articles/atidawning/
