Yeah, that island you can't get on has a powerful rifle on it. I couldn't get onto it either, you have to take the hangglider. I read about it in the walkthrough after I beat the game. I'm pretty sure you get the same gun later in the game. I guess it makes the game easier if you get it on...
I got Chronicles of Riddick last week and I haven't been able to get it to run well on my computer. I have the resolution at 1152x864, texture quality at below the middle, shadows off, V-sync off, AF off and I can only get around 10-15 FPS.
My system:
P4 3 Ghz
BFG 6800 OC
1 Gig ram
I...
I got stuck at that place too. What I had to do was hang on for a while, and an explosion broke the wall on your screenshot down. I'm not sure, there might be another way.
Thats the same thing mine does, I can run 12x6, but not 16x6. When I had it set to 16x6, the textures became speckled when looked at up close and the water in far cry didn't look right. So I just run mine at 12x6.
I thought current PCI-express cards didn't use the extra power connector. Maybe they do. If we all used google more, then most posts wouldn't be here, and whats the fun in that. :)
Isn't another advantage of PCI-Express that it has more power comming through the slot. So that you don't need a power connection.
Oh and what is the difference between PCI-x and PCI-e?
This is a total guess, I'm not very knowledgable about this stuff, but if you have v-sync on doesn't it cap your FPS at what your monitor refresh rate is?
I have mine in a Dell 8300, so those computers are quite to begin with. The card is really the loudest thing in the computer, but it really isn't an annoying noise, it is more of a dull hum. Right now I have the TV on and I can't hear the computer over the tv sound. Without the TV on, I can...
Does anyone know if Half-Life: Source will ever be available by itself. I am getting HL2 for christmas and have never played Half-Life, so I wanted to play that before I got HL2 and I was hoping to play the Source version, but it doesn't look like it is available by itself. Will I just have to...
Yeah, you can't return it if it just doesn't unlock the extra pipes, my BFG doesn't (I get dots in textures) and it still is an awesome card. I was a little unhappy it didnt' unlock, but never gave it a though of returning it because of it.
I got mine at Future Power PC, I had no problems with them, and I really like the card. When I got mine though the price was $269, I didn't have to pay tax or shipping.
Yout can't unlock pipes in a 6600, it is a different chip, it has 8 piplelines, and 3 vertex shaders. A 6800 has 12 pipelines and 5 vertex shaders. Some cards can be unlock to 16 pipelines, most can be unlocked 6 shaders. At higher res with AA and AF on, the 6800 is better.
I had that with my retail version of Far Cry on my 6800nu. I am pretty sure it is a problem with the original release of Far Cry (which the demo would be) and 6800 cards. When I installed the 1.2 patch it fixed it. New drivers might fix the demo though, but it I"m pretty sure it is a Far Cry...
I have at BFG 6800nu, my idle temp is around 51C, ambient 37C. Under load the max temp I get running Far Cry for a couple hours is 76C, ambient around 50C. I have never been concerned with the temps, well I guess I have been concerned with the under load ambient because I don't want to messup...
I don't know the exact db, but when I bought mine I figure it would be so lound I would have to put an NV silencer on it, but so far it hasn't really annoyed me, I can hear it, but it really isn't that bad a noise, some people discribe it as a vacuum cleaner, it really isn't that loud at all...
Those where the choices I was trying to decide between. I went with the BFG 6800 oc, and I am completely happy with it. So far I have only played Far Cry on it, but I could pretty much run everything on very high. I haven't gotten HL2 yet, but I was also worried when I got my 6800 about the...
I also have a BFG 6800 OC. When I was researching before I bought it, I was looking for a quiet one too. I read that the MSI is pretty quiet. I ended up getting the BFG, I was planning to put a Silencer on it, but I have to say I don't really find the noise it makes that annoying, so I'll...
That atlantis is probalby 128 bit. The FX5900XT is $172. If that is around the max price you would go, I would go with the 256-bit 9800 pro 128 meg. You can find them for around $200. Some of my friends have gotten them for $170, but that was on sale.
I think I had the same problem, does it look really bright and washed out too?
What I did was installed the 66.74 drivers. I'm not sure if those are the newest or even the best out, thats just what I have installed. And I installed the version 1.3 FarCry patch. I'm not sure which of those...
I think that program just heats the card up good. I have played Far Cry for a couple hours straight, and the temp is only around 60-65, when I run that program it gets up into the 70s. Oh and no overclocking or extra pipes on mine.
The problem with the 9800 pro is that the standard price, not getting a good deal on it is $249. Last week you could get a 6800nu for that at Best Buy. The standard price really should be $200.
I think by standard price I meant MSRP.
Thats the problem I am having. You said that updating your chipset drivers made it run good, did it also get rid of this problem? Or does auto detect still set everything on low for you still. Thanks.
I just read somemore on a different thread, I installed Far Cry before I installed my new...
I think I am having the same trouble you are, I almost took my 6800 oc out and was going to return it I was so frustrated. I found that after I installed the 66.74 drivers for it, it kind of worked better. My doom 3 demo on auto-detect graphics settings tells me I should use medium 640x480, I...
I'm haveing the same type of problems too. So I'm trying to update my AGP and motherboard drivers, I just don't know how to do that. I tried to look on the internet and I searched this site, but couldn't find it. I don't even know what kind of motherboard I have. I have a Dell 8300 if that...
I can see the temps if I right-click on my desktop, and go to the Nvidia analog Display. There is a temperature setting there.
So far no success making mine work, I'll have to work on it more tomorrow somemore, thanks for the sticky thread tip, I didn't even think to look there.
I just installed my BFG 6800 OC. To install it I followed BFG's directions and under add/remove programs removed my old Nvidia drivers (for my old 5200). I then used Nvidia's install program to install the new drivers. Everything seemed to work.
But when I do an auto-detect video settings...
I am pretty sure all 6800nu's have 16 pipes, just 4 of them are turned off. Its the same chip just crippled. The 6700 is the new one that is comming out only has 12, and supposidly it is replacing the 6800nu.
That being said, some of the 4 that are locked could be broken, so unlocking them...
Last night I bought one from futurepowerpc for $270. I was so angry a couple mintues ago, until I realized at Best Buy I would have to pay tax on top of the $249, so that brings the price to around $275. Lets just say I'm less angry now.
I just bought a BFG 6800 OC from futurepowerpc last night, I was also trying to decide between which maker. I ended up choosing the BFG because it was $269, as opposed to the Leadtek being $300 with tax at newegg. So pricewise I guess I went for the cheapest.
The BFG seems to also have a...
