If you remove the ground pin (don't do this) on the amp, it will cut out most if not all of the noise. I tried HumX on all gear but my amp will destroy one of those on power up since they are only rated for a certain max power draw (I did this). Since I don't want to do a ground lift on my amp...
I have this same/similar issue and have been trying many things for a long time to resolve it, with no luck so far.
Currently: PC via HDMI cable to a Denon x4000, pre-outs to a Parasound 5 channel amp: as I understand it, a small bit of electrical noise dumps as ground through the system. If I...
Picked up a w3680 for $50 from a fellow forum member. Upgraded from an i7-920 oc'd easily to 3.8Ghz.
The w3680 is easily stable at 22x191 (4.2Ghz), still finding how low I can take various voltages. I can post towards 5 Ghz but haven't been able to find any truly stable points (yet) beyond...
I just upgraded from an i7-920 oc'd to 3.8Ghz to a w3680 for $50 that is oc'd (so far) to 4.2Ghz and have seen a welcome fps improvement in games (I game at 4k on a 1080ti). You can get the w3680s (i7-980x as I understand it) for around $50 from Chinese cpu/part sales sites. I got one for $50...
If I recall correctly I got 6400 or 6700 on firestrike non-extreme. I checked other results online and it seems like driver versions definitely have an impact because other machines nearly identical to mine were getting scores in the 7k range.
In any case, I bet that 4770k does help quite a...
July 2013 update: I got a 770 and got the 246 working with it by modifying the registry after I had installed the drivers. Manually added the binary entry for the edid string found earlier in the thread.
Oh, neat. I didn't see Valley. I'll try that when I get home from work, too.
So far I'm also incredibly impressed with how quiet the card fans can remain even after hours of gaming. When I first powered on the system I thought something was wrong because I didn't hear anything.
I upgraded from my Sapphire 4850x2 2GB card to Gigabyte's 770 4GB card.
Good lord, what a jump in performance.
I currently game at 1920x1200 on a 24" LG 246W. I plan on upgrading to a 27" or 30" in the next year or two.
What do you guys recommend I try benchmarking this card with? I...
I reached the store over the phone. Operations manager said that the cards are yellow tag, not orange tag, and the prices are not negotiable. The 25% was only for yellow tag items (which is what we've heard in this thread).
I'm not sure it's worth the drive to try to sweet talk my way into...
My local MC has a 680 reference/blower style card, a 7970 Ghz edition, and a few 670s from the looks of it. If the 25% was offered it would bring them all down sub-$300 to that same $265-295 range give or take. I've been thinking about upgrading my 4850x2 Sapphire card to a 760 2GB (24" LCD @...
Specific items showed no returns. When vieweing MC's site for one of their open box items, an area on the website below the item listing expands to show details of the open box status [edit: the area expands when I click on the open-box item link]. It will show incomplete, missing parts, sold...
Did you end up giving it a shot? I was thinking about driving down there but it's about 45 minutes away.
I'm also a little uneasy if their open box details on the site say no returns or exchanges (not even 30 day).
+1 for Crashplan. Works great, software is great. I have a little over 200GB backed up with them now.
You can buy a few years worth to get a cheaper per month cost, and if you decide to ever leave them they'll rebate you for time not used too.
How loud are most of the reference card fans on the 6950s? I was debating between a reference 2GB card and a custom card with two fans or at least a custom heatsink/fan combo to keep the card quieter inside the case. My Sapphire 4850x2 gets loud.
What reference card did you buy and is it...
Hi all,
Please correct me if I'm wrong. As I understand it, if I buy a 6950 now (let's say a 2GB reference card), I can purchase any 6950 a year or two from now and crossfire the cards, right?
Is there any situation where I wouldn't be able to crossfire another 6950 card with the original...
Hearing games better means getting a lead on the footsteps in the grass near you or around the corner inside a building and having the advantage. Simple as that, for me.
Some are making the excuse that gold's going up in price so manufacturing costs are now going up, which I think is a load of crap, personally, and just an excuse to price fix.
Running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Sapphire 4850x2 2GB, Gigabyte EX58-UD5
Ran for hours last night just fine. Froze once, actually, but no other issues. Running latest drivers off ATI's site.
She fell over, for sure... that's a straight left fall, tires still even, nothing bent... and look where in the street she fell. Stop suddenly... get shoelace stuck on pedal, and over you go.
I got one of monoprice's DVI -> HDMI cables and it works great. So far I haven't had any blinks or power losses or flashes to black. Will report back once I have more than a few weeks experience with it, but so far it's great.
Even the UAC blinking black for a few seconds in Vista has gone...
I'm making my way through as an ultra-good savior of all right now, but I'm probably going to play it through again being as evil and exploiting as many as possible. I just don't want to kill all the quest givers yet. =)
