Ok, so I was finally able to check his pc. It has a 750w psu and only has two 8-pin connectors. Size-wise, it should fit. Would I need a bigger psu?

That's my only worry. It's a mAtx board and case so I have to be careful on size of the gpu. Although my case is a full sized, so if I'd doesn't fit his, It'd fit just fine in mine.

It's an old Nvidia gtx960. He mainly plays Fortnite online and it seems to be handling it well enough. I just don't want to get to the point where I HAVE to buy one so I'm trying to stay ahead of the game- no pun intended. 😁

I know this probably been asked a million times, but thoughts on used gpu's? My son need a new-ish gpu and someone is selling a Radeon 6650xt on marketplace for $220. From what I've read, this is a good mid-tier gpu. Is this a good price and what are your experiences buying used?

My minimum processor state is 75% and my max is 100%(on battery). This is why I can't understand why with no load it's running about 75% but then drops to 34% when stressing. I'll take a look at the bios also.

I recently built myself a new pc. I would like to clone the ssd drive os from my old pc onto my new rig, which is a Nvme pcie drive. Is this possible and would it run in my new rig?

So the samsung 500 gb 980 PCie is $60 right now. Is it worth the few extra bucks over a standard ssd drive?

Any suggestions on a cpu? I was thinking an i5 also but is that overkill? Could I get away with going to a newer AMD cpu? Fortnite is the primary use. Also plays a "game" called Rocksmith but I'm guessing that is more dependent on the gpu.

Ok, a final update. I remembered I had a spare motherboard from a previously screwed up pc(damn kids!). I swapped it out with this one and everything is working fine. Looks like the sudden shutdown fried something on the motherboard. Thanks for all the replies and help!
