My Xi-Fi Fatality with HD555 headphones.
Gaming, music, movies - same settings.
Windows Control Panel (Advanced Audio Settings) - 5.1 speakers.
X-Fi in Gaming mode
Crystallizer, EQ - off
EAX - on, 0dB
X-Fi speaker setup - 2.1 speakers
CMSS-3D - on, auto,auto
THX console - speaker...
HD555s are excellent in mid to low price range. They are circumaural, but they are open-air. They are also very very comfy.
They do muffle outside sounds somewhat, but not much. The sound quality is comparable to low range Grados like SR80 (good).
Here's how it works with X-Fi.
You set windows audio control panel to 5.1 (Advanced Audio Properties). This is required for some games. Newer games might ignore this settings completely and use whatever settings are in the options. I always have my windows control panel set to 5.1 though (it...
I think my problem has something to do with CDROM/DVDROM drives.
My 3Dm06 finally loaded after about 40 minutes, and when I checked the Even Viewer, there were two errors at the time it loaded - something about my cdrom and dvdrom disappearing. Like this
The device 'JLMS DVD-ROM LTD-166S'...
Apparently some people have been experiencing problems with installing and running 3dm06.
I am one of those people, so I decided to start a thread about this.
Please post any issues with 3dm06 here.
My own problem with it:
3dm06 hangs at the logo screen - it keeps hitting HDD...
And just like I said at the Creative site, I cannot buy that argument. :)
"2/2.1 speaker" setting with CMSS On also gives 3D positional sound, with proper 3D effects mixed in, but it sounds normal (good). It's just that the sound positions aren't entirely correct becase of incorrect angles.
I have this problem with X-FI Fatal1ty. Maybe someone knows what to do about it...
I'm trying to get 3D positional sound to work through regular stereo headphones using CMSS 3D. The way I have it set up is as follows:
the win xp Control Panel is set to 5.1, X-FI audio console is set to...
I have a problem where upon installing the newest official beta NV 81.84 forceware, when I have only a single CRT connected to my SLI system, it shows up as primary and secondary, as if I had two monitors. Uninstalling one of them or both of them doesnt help. As soon as I reboot, windows detects...

This person is a regular [H]Troll. Look up his history of posts. All he seems to do is argue about consoles vs. PC, most often totally out of context or topic of a thread.
If you are worried about actual performance and not the brilliance of a particular coller, then you should get an XP-90C with a fan that can do at least 50cfm. Also, some motherboards (like mine, Abit AN8 SLI) only require the bracket installation, and subsequent cpu changes/modifications can be...
They should ban you from these forums for life for saying such things:).
You can get around the ddr333 issue by dropping the multiplier and HT multiplier, and then increasing the HTT speed to about 240-250 or so. That would still run your cpu at stock, would bring your memory to stock ddr400...
There are a few more things to do before rma'ing the motherboard.
1) Determine if the sound card is causing the problems. The best way would be to disable it in bios (if onboard) or take it out (if an add-on). See if the computer runs more stable w/o the sound card.
2) The next crucial step...
If you keep doing things others tell you to, you will most likely end up screwing something up, like frying one of your components. You need to read more. I recommend starting with sticky guides at this site and at www.ocforums.com.
Lockups, reboots and shutdowns are normally a sign of a hardware failure. Software issues would normally result in crashes. HOWEVER, because of immaturity of NV drivers for the 7800gtx series, I have seen lockups due to drivers on my own system (dungeon siege 2 locking up in SLI mode).
1) I...
All bullshit aside, for most people out there with fast A64 cpus, the only real advantage to having an X2 would be playing online games while downloading shit though bittorrnet.
An 80 mm fan blowing in between the two cards would help a lot in bringing the temps down. My dinky 40cfm fan, lowered the temps of both cards by 7C in idle and 10C at load.
The damn silver heatsinks (BFG) still get very hot though.
Just a small tip from a professional chemist. Don't use rubber eraser, neverdull, or rubbing alcohol. Don't wax it, don't paint it, don't talk to it, don't have sex with it. Use acetone, then lap it.
While the heatsink may look smooth and clean, I would recommend getting rid of any possible adhesive residue that occupy microchannels on the surface of the heatsink. According to arctic silver, adhesives have no business being there, and should be replaced by AS5 compound (by rubbing AS5 in...
Speedfan may not be reading your sensor information correctly (as is the case for my motherboard - Abit AN8 sli). Try "everest home edition" from Lavalys.com. That might work better.
