I don't seem to have an option for extended view, all i have is spanning. I'm running a GTX 285 with 2x2407WFP Dell monitors. I want my primary monitor to be 1920x1200 and then have my 2nd monitor be a "blank canvas" so I can drag windows over. Right now its spanning everything across acting...
Just wanted to chime in. I definitely find 12gb of ram useful. I do alot of encoding, gaming, and run multi monitors. Nothings better than being able to play WOW in a 1900x1200 windowed screen on my main monitor while encoding videos on my 2nd monitor with CS4 open while watching a DVD and...
Ahh nice link that Mack, definitely shows that in a PhysX intensive game that something else (as long as its a 8600/9600+) card makes a definite improvement. I'll be running this guy as a dedicated physx card then. Thanks :)
I'm running an Asus P5W-DH Deluxe MB with a Core 2 Duo E6600 setup with an EVGA 8800 GTX currently. I run on a 24" monitor and everything has normally been fine, but lately anything new has started to bring ole bessie to her knees, sub 20fps in most games at 1920x1200 even at 2xAA. So I'm...
Glad to hear that a new card fixed your problem. I had a 8800 GTX that was having the nv4_disp crashing as well, and wouldn't overclock 1mhz past the stock level without artifacting. Also had the lagging post text when I turned the system on, shipped it out last week and my replacement should be...
Just to compare, I have a new EVGA 8800 GTX with a Conroe E6600, I score 17,600pts in 3dmark05, more than twice as fast as the guy with the single opteron, so you can use that for an upgrade path.

So yes, a new cpu will make a huge...
Not bad scores. I'd recommend some gentle overclocking at least. I have a single EVGA 8800 GTX thats pushing 17,600 in a single card setup with a 6600 @ 3.0ghz as well.

Good luck on 20k+ scores once you massage 'em a bit :)
97.02's are super super buggy, they released them in a hurry to have something for the 8800s, wait a few days and I bet a new driver will come out that will be amazing.
EVGA 8800GTX here, I've managed to go from 576/1900 stock up to 640/1950 without artifacting, memory on this card I got seems super sensitive. I can drop it back to 1900 and run the core at 650 without any problems.
I got my EVGA 8800GTX today, swapped out my 7900GT and after setting up the drivers and everything I've run through 3dmark a few times. So far my scores are as follows:
3dmark05:
17,621

3dmark06:
10,090

Have flashed through the EZ Flash utility about 6 times all the way up to the 1201 bios. I flashed to the 1305 a few days back and saw the 1401 available today so tried to flash but now when I enter the bios and try to run the EZ Flash it locks up just after the screen pops up.
I can flash...
Same temps on mine and I have the exact same fan, just a different motherboard. Its a nice fan, probably safe to assume the other people are using their stock hsf.

Just got my retail 6600 from Newegg and pulled out my Pentium D 805 which I had been running at 3.33ghz steady for about 3 months. Was able to run SuperPi 1M in 32 secs on the old 805 and had a 3dmark05 score of 8205 with a 7900GT.
With the new 6600 at stock 2.4ghz speeds i'm able to run a...
Just got my E6600 Retail today and ran 3dmark05, heres my stock scores with a PNY 7900 GT.

My previous cpu was a Pentium D 805 oc'd to 3.33ghz and I was scoring 8200. Nice boost with the new cpu, opened up some of the cpu bottleneck.
The 150GB Raptor was a price mistake from Dell awhile back, got in on that deal through a Slickdeals post, was 162 with free shipping.
And the 2407FPW was when they were at 703 towards the beginning of july and I had a concession coupon from a damaged laptop I ordered. No tax here in oregon...
Have been hearing from a few people that had Tankguyz preorders and cancelled that when they placed a Tiger order that showed in stock they got back order emails, so i'd call first to make sure.
Quite a few threads on Xstreme about retail 6600s hitting 3.6 on air with no vcore increase on intel and asus 975 boards.
I myself have mine sitting at nice even 3ghz clock and its more than enough, I may try to touch the 400mhz fsb this weekend when i get my watercooling setup. :)
ZALMAN CNPS9500 from Newegg for 48 with free shipping.
Also need to remember that the Conroes have a lower TDW than the previous intel chips so they don't need as much cooling but it won't hurt! :)
I have a Thermaltake Big Typhoon on my Pentium D 805 Oc'd to 3.33 atm, and it works great...
Theres a 6600 up as well but they have "conditions" seller says they'll be available on the 26th, hes assuming they'll be available and ready to ship by then, if not you just have to wait longer. :(
Have a pre-order through Tankguys at 350 + 15 shipping (sadface) but i just bit on the BLT price and have an order in at 320 + 7 shipping. I'll take both and make a 2nd machine for something, I'm sure I can find a reason to build a 2nd comp. :D
The P5N32-SLI SE is actually an Nvidia 590 based board, still very nice, and my board of choice for my new conroe. :)

Nice shot of the board from Computex.
I saw the same thing with my 7900 GT when I went from stock speeds of 430/1320 i had 6900pts in 3dmark05, when I OC'd it to 550/1500 i got a 4800pt score. I found out I was being limited by my CPU, once I got it up to speed my 3dmark scores shot through the roof and blew past 8000pts. :)
I was worried about getting something that was super overclocked but in the long run i got a PNY 7900 GT that was stock 430/1320 for 249 from Buy.com
I ran the Nvidia detect optimal clock frequencies and it came up at 590/1580. I set it down to 550/1500 just to safe and scored a 8500 in...
Yeah Pentium D 805 @ 3.33ghz (stock cooler/voltage) with the 7900GT at 550/1450 speeds is pulling 8420 in 3dmark05. :) Can probably get close to 9k if I pushed it to 592/1568 like the Nvidia app wants me to. Can't wait for my Conroe, probably hit 9k with a medium amount of card OC.
Thanks for...
