So I just went through a massive, expensive, 3-computer 14th Gen hardware refresh. Ridiculously expensive.
Are you saying in 6 months all my craps obsolete because it doesn’t have the AI NPUs? WTF MS. Win11 + TPM2.0 kicked my ass. Now this?
Ordered a 4070 Super to replace a 3060ti in my HTPC. Same exact power draw, double the performance.
Again, these Supers are what the 4000 series should’ve been at release.
It’s insane how lame nV’s lower tier cards are this 4000 series go-around. My 4090 rocks, but I’ve got another comp with a 3060ti and the 4000 equivalent is an absolute joke.
These Supers are what the 4000 series should’ve been at release.
After days of use, I really notice nothing. I know my upload workloads are pretty much non-existent right now, but I thought I might notice a tiny difference.
I notice nothing. Save your money.
The only thing that’s probably been improved is Microsoft sucking telemetry faster, lol.
Got the new Hitron CODA56 fired up tonight (damn it’s an ugly modem) and getting the full 1.2Gbit down / 200Mbit up with it.
My life is transformed with an extra 160Mbit upload. Not really - can’t tell a difference yet, as I’m not doing anything uploady yet.
Well, I ordered a Hitron CODA56. Gets here in a week or so. Amazon sold out fast. New daily reports of people having good experiences are starting to pour in and Amazon is selling thousands of these modems.
The price is $139 vs the $250-$300 I’ve paid for past modems. Hopefully it’s a solid...

Power supply maker yanks hair dryer advice for melting-prone 16-pin GPU connectors — Seasonic quietly deletes suggestion that PC builders use a hair dryer to bend power cables
I have a CM2000 DOCSIS 3.1 2.5gbps modem and it’s capped at 40Mbps upload.

I thought I was future-proofing a bit by going DOCSIS 3.1 and 2.5 down. NOPE. Gotta go buy a CM3000 now, which, as stated, isn’t out...
Comcast just upped their upload speeds from 40Mbps to 200Mbps, for free. Problem is, it requires everybody who owns their own high-dollar multi-gig modems they just bought to go buy new high-dollar multi-gig modems, just for this upload increase. The newest DOCSIS spec apparently allows for up...

That card ^^ + my Seasonic 1600W ATX 3.0 PSU have been great. I like what Gigabyte did with the cable design / location. No fitment or bending issues.
I game nearfield on a 48” LG C2 and have an 83” SONY 83A90J for the main HT. Not going back.
It took OLED tech many years to get “right” - was too dim, black crush and shadow detail sucked, ABL was an real issue, early burn-in was a serious issue, motion handling was a serious issue, and no...

For sale are (3) 900p U.2 SSDs with M.2 adapter cables.
These SSDs still show 100% life and are basically bullet-proof. I replaced them with P5800X SSDs, or else I’d still be running them.
Asking $50/ea shipped or $130 for all 3 shipped.
Thanks
I’ve built 4 14xxx systems in the past 2 months since the 14 series was released. I actually got a defective 14600KF that I tore my hair out troubleshooting. Multiple reseats, different mobos, different memory, different everything. The CPU would boot and stay up fine but would freeze as soon as...
Optane > everything else. 905Ps can be had for $300. Gen4 P5800Xs can be had for $686.
I’ve got all the things and still swear by Optane for the OS. QD1 4k Random Read is where it’s at for OS performance, period.
Run your games off the biggest, fastest Gen 4 or 5 m.2 flavor of the week.
Induction rocks. Made the switch a year or so ago. Way better than gas or electric. Had to buy new pans, yes, but totally worth it. Never going back.
Back to the article, isn’t it about time Microsoft knocks another 200 or so CPUs off of the Win11 compatibility list, to, you know, help keep the...
I just have 3 of the $686 400GB P5800Xs from Provantage - that’s plenty for my boot/OS drives. I used to run the 280GB 905p’s fine.

Once you run Optane for your OS, it’s really hard to use anything else. The 4k QD1 random reads are...
I use the M.2 to U.2 adapters just fine with my Gen4 Optane P5800Xs as my boot drives. Getting full bandwidth/performance and no weird stuff with my OSs.
I plan on using the same adapters with a Highpoint 2x M.2 RAID controller.
