Please help a guy out, trying to do Hell Ancients..already did baal.
Also I'm down to do hell cows / chaos runs with anybody, i'm lvl 22 obviously i'll level up quickly and I already have great gear. I only need to get my first character started.
Just another d2 revivalist :p
us-east...
What do you think? My heatsink is positioned horizontally so the hs fan is blowing upwards to the top of the case, and the rear fan is blowing in and across the hs fins..all the air being sucked out by the two 120mm Top fans exhausting.
case is a cm590 for reference, temps seem to be...
yeah this is an FPS guys, sorry it doesn't offer 'creative' control over your 'hero', except this game needs to maintain visual standards, i'd hate to see 18 different skinned models flying around the screen. Besides what got TF2 to the highly lauded position it is in now? Girls? Not a chance...
I just did this same step-up, waiting on the 9800gtx to arrive. In light of the new line of gpu's that have released I would maybe wait if you are willing to spend more money.
Great heatsink!
q6600 @ 3.2ghz
1.275vcore
max temp: 45c
mx-2 paste
Mounted horizontally gives me really close temps between all 4 cores, 1-3c differences.
Creating a 90 minute cut scene is also much easier to make into a grand and fantastic looking experience versus actually working out an innovative game engine.
Think about what goes into a major motion picture film, the budgets they operate with to entertain you for 90 minutes, versus konami...
I am lowering my vcore to find the lowest stable voltage @ 3ghz 9x333, on a q6600. So far I've tested with prime95 small fft's for 9 hours stable at 1.23125, and again tested using blend. Ram is 555-15, 800mhz.
Currently I'm running at 1.20625, only had time for a 15 minute test to see the...
my score went from 5.5 (lowest score was ram even though i have 4gb's, plenty to run vista) to 5.9 by just overclocking cpu. i'm guessing the OC allowed the ram to be in closer ratio of the fsb.
that is awesome especially seeing what case you started with. And yeah i got a little bioshock vibe too, but bioshock isn't the first one to have a style like this. Great choice of paint colors.
nice choice for fan controller, that zalman is brushed aluminum right? should match the front panel siding nicely.
Pics of mine, you should make this the Centurion 590 thread
Actually I replaced the blue led fan in front, it was the loudest thing in the case, much sleeker looking now.
First overclock here, using a q6600. I've already turned off c1e, speedstep, setting pci-e freq. to 100, etc.
I have it set to 9x333 and the memory is running at 2.0 so 667mhz and 5-5-5-15.
A short prime95 run gave no errors.
Now for the CPU voltage it's set to 'Normal' and I'm guessing...
I preferred how the old version, when minimized, would show the core temps in the taskbar instead of the icon next to the clock. No need to scroll over it, but this is a fantastic program, thanks!
Yeah this thing rocks, just installed it with mx-2 and tr bolt thru kit. Dropped temps 10c right away. Only difficulty was screwing in the first two spring screws, you have to let the HS just sit on the cpu, letting the paste get all out of line because its not secured and its moving around...
No, the vent holes are fairly big though, all the front panels have foam backing to keep dust out, I have more problems with the top (i leave this rig in a crappy garage with a tacky roof) and debris falls ontop the case, so when the computer is off i cover the top.
I'm getting carried away recommending the 590, but you said it yourself :) its everything you need, i love all black cases, and there's fan placement everywhere, even on the back side of the mobo..
Plus most enthusiast prefer a bottom mounted PSU, and after using it this way, i won't go back...
IMO exhaust is overrated. Especially if you have good airflow to begin with, also i feel like the more space in your case the less need to exhaust. Keep the rear fan as exhaust, the two side blasting cool air onto the mobo/gpu, that seems to be most effective..
I have a 590 and i considered...
I ordered the original s1283 over the red scorpion. I'd rather not pay for LED fans, in my experience they crap out within a couple weeks, plus it's slower rpm..the reviews i've seen have them at identical temps too.
I left my psu with the fan facing downward to the floor. Works fine, never gets hot, and I can feel the air current underneath the case. This way the case works as designed to, and leaves your ps out of the equation. Lots of people flip them though, but I always felt it would disturb some...
