Sounds like a nice machine. How is the MiniLED for input lag when you get down below 60 Hz? That was one of the main things preventing me from getting a MiniLED monitor, they tended to be about double or triple most other monitors in that regard.
You're not wrong, but gamers are not the ones selling these out. It's already been said, but it may be time to admit that nVidia is not a gaming company anymore. Hopefully the other two competitors can step up and actually give a crap about gamers.
HDR isn't for office work, it's for gaming/movies where it's often really dark with bursts of brightness. The point is to have a large range between black and white, so yeah, sometimes it's gonna be really bright.
The kind of people spending $2000+ per speaker is a really niche market. The vast majority of HT/audiophiles are not spending that kind of money. $2000 on an HT setup *total*, sure.
I don't think the market for $2000+ GPUs for gaming is as widespread as you seem to think.
It makes me wonder how many total sales to actual gamers (not people buying to scalp or companies buying for AI stuff) are made here. I don't know anyone personally who would pay even $1000 for a GPU, let alone $1600 or $2000+. I just can't imagine there being that huge of a market there...
I had to help install drivers for a home HP printer for a remote user recently. Apparently, you now have to use the HP Smart app, which is meh at best, and you have to make an HP account for the printer to allow you to scan locally. That's, of course, on top of the ink DRM chip lockdown.
I'd...
Probably all depends on what AMD is releasing next. Performance claims could be true, but a $1000 uplift over the 4090 seems pretty excessive. Wouldn't put it past nVidia, though.
I have quite a few normal Blu-rays, so the upscaling might be nice. I'll just keep an eye on it and see if I can pick it up on a sale. Apparently it's gotten down to $370 or so in the past. I think recently it was going for around $425 or so.
I've heard it's one of, if not the best streaming platform as far as support for things like Dolby Vision. Right now I have an mini-HTPC and Windows 11 kinda sucks for that purpose.
I remember when not running a game full-screen caused a huge performance hit. Doesn't really matter much anymore, most games default to borderless window these days.
Seems fine to me. Seems like a good move toward what AMD has, which is far superior in terms of functionality, currently.
You can still access the old Control Panel, if you go to Settings and then scroll all the way down to the bottom in the app.
We're back, baby!

Coming to Switch, PS5/PS4, and PC.
Nice looking Collector's Edition, but only for PS5 and Switch. 😞
I mean, here's the thing. I only have so much money that I'm willing to spend monthly on recurring costs. Utilities and internet/phone are already a large chunk of that, so I'm not putting money into 10+ subscriptions for various crap. I think right now I only do Mullvad and Spotify. Used to...
I didn't think it was that scary, more weird than anything with some vaguely creepypasta stuff. In any case, I'm a wimp when it comes to horror games, and this didn't bother me at all.
Have you ever played Pony Island? It's kinda like that, in a way. And if you haven't... you definitely should.
But no, it doesn't actually do anything malicious.
Yeah, it's a real shame because I really like the concept and I really *want* to like it. Maybe after a few patches if they decide to add some QoL changes.
WAB has some really bad takes sometimes. I used to watch him pretty frequently, but it seems like over time he's gotten worse and worse. Unsubbed quite some time ago.
I tried the demo...not sure how I feel about it. It seems decent but I don't like that I was 20+ minutes into an area and it wouldn't let me save mid-mission. I could have spent way longer but I'm not going 30+ minutes between saves.
I also found the UI to be really difficult to parse...
So are you using external speakers with the receiver? If you're doing Roku -> AVR -> TV then it's not using eARC, unless for some reason you're pushing audio through the TV speakers. But in that case, why even use a receiver?
Are there differences in the audio type between shows (Dolby, DTS, etc.)?
Yep, imagine being a fucking Nintendo bootlicker in the year of our lord 2024. Crazy stuff.
I've played the game a bit, it's pretty fun and seems like a lot of content for the ~$26 price tag. Supposedly only 60% of the game is complete, according to the dev, so maybe more coming.
Nope, you're good, I said I *could* get a set locally and didn't really specify if I did or not. They were down in Seattle and I ended up needing to head down there last weekend anyway, so I picked them up. It was a really good deal, less than half of what the lowest sale prices generally are...
