    Websense question

Yes. I'm trying to monitor all web traffic through the network agent. With the server in the DMZ I couldn't do that. All I could do is filter the traffic by integrating it with my ASA. I added in a switch and connected the second NIC on the websense system to monitor this. I had an extra 12...

    Websense question

I found a way to get this to work. The websense system has a second NIC. I can plug the second NIC into a switch where the router goes to the firewall. The internal router and second NIC will plug into the switch, then plug into the firewall. I'll have the switch SPAN the router port over to...

    Websense question

I've setup on the filtering rule on the ASA/PIX and the websense system does filter websites that I select out. The only thing that it isn't doing is listing any sites visited on the "monitoring" side. Placing the server in the internal network would be pointless so traffic from our other site...

    Websense question

What have other people done in this situation? Where did you place your websense system or what kind of trickery did you do on your routers or firewalls to route traffic over to the websense system for it to get visibility of what sites people were visiting?

    Websense question

The websense system will be serving two sites. One of our other offices has a point-to-point T1 to our office and from there we serve internet for them. I put the server in the DMZ as I thought that would be a good neutral area. The server does have a 2nd gigabit ethernet port.

    Websense question

I have a websense server doing filtering sitting in our DMZ. I also have our Cisco ASA firewall setup to query the websense server. All this does is filter traffic. It doesn't "monitor" the traffic so I'm unable to tell what sites people are visiting. How would I get this working? I don't...

    Websense alternatives

Are there any alternatives out there to WebSense that are as good or nearly as good as it? The one year 75 user license is around $2,500/year. I've used squid w/ squidguard/dansguardian in the past but it definitely wasn't as good as filtering as websense.

Exchange admins: DST 2007 change.. this is confusing

I'm looking over the DST 2007 changes and came across this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930879/ I am absolutely confused as to why this tool is necessary. When the time change hits on March 11th, are Exchange calendar items going to switch their times on their own? I really do not...

Large and active IT forum? Specifically network administration

Good luck finding one. Cisco's TAC forums is very helpful but requires a CCO account ($$$). I've resorted to Broadbandreports forums once or twice. There is also NANOG (North American Network Operator's Group) but it is a sorry-ass mailing list and not a forums.

Enhanced IOS on standard Cisco switch?

I have a 3560-24-PS-S (standard IOS cisco switch) and have a basic smartnet contract on the switch. Is there any reason why I can't just go and install an EMI (enhanced IOS) on the switch? It has sufficient memory (flash/RAM).

Good News for Both Windows AND Linux Users

The Nintendo Wii had a later launch date and has already outsold the PS3. By most enthusiasts accounts the PS3 has already been deemed a failure. Their market share outside of the iPod is slim. It's definitely nothing to brag about.

    Exchange 2003 anti-spam?

Note If you use a MAPI client such as Microsoft Outlook to send the e-mail, the recipient does not receive a modified message. This is because messages submitted using MAPI are not in SMTP format when the e-mail triggers the SMTP transport event. Therefore, changes that are made by the event's...

    Exchange 2003 anti-spam?

I'm looking more for an 'all-in-one' solution somewhat like GFI. We currently have Symantec Mail security. Our license on that expires in January 2007. Rather than renew I'm looking for something that can do more.

    How to Replace Domain Controller?

You'd be crazy to only be running a single DC. Like they said, 25 users should never be stressing a P4 DC. On top of that unless you're running something old you don't need WINS.

XP problem - some websites broken?

I have a problem on my wife's Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. Certain websites wouldn't load for her (i.e. www.ae.com, Windows Update site). I did my usual checks and even tried Firefox 2. The website still wouldn't come up. I did a full reinstall with WinXP Pro SP2 and the problem still exists...

    Cisco 870 vs 1800

Different processors in each box. I have tried the 877W and it was garbage. The ADSM that the box runs on is a total hackjob of what the ASA and PIX appliances run. I eventually replaced it with a 2651 with a WIC-1ADSL card.

Question about add on cards for a Cisco 2610 router

Fast ethernet ports are only sold in combo NM (network module) slots and not WICs (WAN Interface Cards). You'd probably want a NM-1FE2W-V2. You're better off finding a dual fast ethernet router (i.e. 2621, 2651). The 2611 is a dual ethernet (10mb) router. The XM series gets more pricey...

    Need help configuring etherchannel/link aggregation

Hmm.. thats a good idea. I think I will try that. The 3560 I have is a 48 port PoE switch with the 4 SFP gig ports. It looks to support dynamic routing. That should give me the redundant links though no bonding of the links like etherchannel would give me.
  32. M

    Need help configuring etherchannel/link aggregation

I saw that on a document on Cisco.com. That sucks. I guess no redundancy between the switch and the router unless there is a switch module in the NM port. The ESW modules are expensive too. I wonder if this is possible with the newer ISR routers (1800/2800/3800).

    Need help configuring etherchannel/link aggregation

It looks like the problem was more with the switch. This 2900XL is returning the ping replies even without the aggregate links so it looks like it wasn't a spanning-tree loop. My next step is doing aggregate links with my 2651 router. I currently have port f0/0 configured with...

    Need help configuring etherchannel/link aggregation

I do. I have a feeling it's just the nature of aggregating the ports. I ran a constant ping and unplugged one of the ports thereby rulling out a loop and still got the ping fluxuations which were usually between 1ms to 40ms. It didn't happen often but it did happen. Ah well.
  35. M

    Need help configuring etherchannel/link aggregation

I have a feeling it may be a loop as the uplink to the router just goes absolutely nuts during the pinging. I'm hoping someone can confirm if my configuration is correct or incorrect.

Is a Cisco 2900XL switch (2924M-XL) with 2 2-port 100baseFX modules with IOS 12.0 worth using in a lab? I'm building a CCNP lab and was wondering if it was worth it to keep this switch for that. My other switch (3550) is running 12.2 (IIRC).

where/how did you get your MCSE?
