I'm curious about this myself I have a similar problem with my XP machine (see my other posts). So far I haven't been able to fix the actual problem, only recover the data off of it (somewhat). I'll keep an eye on this thread, and let you know if I find anything that fixes the drive.
Can deleting anything in the registry affect the MBR or partition tables? I have a post in a thread in the Disk Storage Systems category with details to my problem. Thanks for any help.
