I have my AEBSn hooked up to a USB Hub which is connected to 2 external hard drives and 1 printer. The printer works fine, the 200gb...
1)Whats on your thumb drive?
2)Also, I have a 1GB thumb drive that fits in my wallet...and i want to put financial (quicken backups..ect) and other sensitive information on it in case my place burns down or something. Obviously...i don't want that in the open if I were to lose my wallet and...
Ok, so i have a mouse plugged in USB style, and i close the lid...it sleeps, i wiggle the mouse, and i think it comes back awake, but with the screen off cause the lids closed....obviously..but now when i open the lid to check to see if anything actually happened, the screen wont turn back on...
So ya, like the title says, can you make it so that when your on power adapter it doesnt go into sleep mode when you close the lid? Ive checked all over for the setting and i cant find it. Let me know if theres a way to do this at all or if there is some nifty way around this built in feature...
Updates will most likely fix the problem...but one question i have is how long has it been since she logged off / shut down? Ive noticed this in 10.4.8 even, that programs that run in rosetta clog up the computer after while. Friend of mine in the IT biz said something about the rosetta...
Many different ways. Probably easiest is network them and share a folder on your old laptop. Otherwise you could use a fat32 formatted external hard drive, use an HFS+ formatted external and macdrive (program, free to try, so thats what i did actually), use thumb drives, use your ipod, use...
dito on the PC to Mac switch. I used to have (well still have, but selling), an X2 3800+, 2gb ram, 4x200 sata segates, 1x250 ide segate system drive, tv tuner, dell 2005fpw, x800xt, antec p180 case, nec dvdrw....it was a great computer, but its nothing compared to MBP c2d, 500gb external, and...
I seriously recommend playing with them in person. Some people dont like the macbook's keyboard (like me)...some people love it (im sure someone will chime in and say they love it soon), but really its a personal preference you should decide.
you can get them with the same processor / ram / hdd, so its not really slower in that respect at all. Only thing that would be 'slower' so to speak, its the GPU. And that, by a lot. But if you never game / use 3d stuff, you wont notice it.
edit: another reason i like the MBP over the MB...
MBP (in sig). I take it to class all the time, its really not that much bigger / heavier. Also, Electrical Engineering student so i attempt to use the most out of every piece of electronics :)
How come my MBP doesnt say 100% charged....It used to the first week i had it. Now it gets to 99% and just sits there. Any ideas? Green light is on on my power adapter...I did the battery calibration thing too...hmm.
It uses the command line. Hence, i cant train my g/f to use it. (yes i know how to use a command line, i have X11 installed for a reason...little ssh, little remote display, little matlab at home in my pj's)
Edit: i dont care about expanding, stuffit expander works fine for that, and i have...
Wow, yours runs hot!
Computer in sig normal operating temp ~ 43C,
thats normal operating temp, when im typing this, with it sitting on a desk. Room temp 75F. Also, running off battery, if that makes a difference at all (85% a.t.m.).
Not sure what temp it is at full load, but the highest...
I have first hand knowledge that most mp3 players will work with osx, of course, that is as long as they dont require a specific application to put music onto them. So ya, as long as it supports drag and drop and mounts as a removable usb drive, ur good. Im not sure of any players besides...
What about for splitting one archive up into several? For instance, raring a big xvid file to fit on 3 cds or something. Wheres that funcitonality? I never really cared about compression much i guess, just the splitting of archives.
I'm relatively new to OSX, and I've used unrarx for rars, and the free version of stuffit11 for un-archiving things. But what kind of free apps are out there for archiving? I know you can make dmg files in osx, but theres gotta be some kind of freeware app like there is for windows that you...
questions....
WRT54G?
Do you use P2P applications like bittorrent?
If you said yes to both of those, then theres a problem with that router in how it handles all that data.

I have photoshop / illustrator / word / ppt / excel / adium / itunes / quicktime watching a lecture / windows rdc / azureus downloading / ical / address book / google notifier / firefox open and i have no problems?
comp in sig.
Dunno, i installed it and it wouldnt recognize it. Anyone know of a way to force it? I could live without the on the fly sensitivity changes (which ironically work without drivers), just as long as id didnt do funky things like not move after sleep, or not be able to use back/forward buttons.
My MX518 and OSX dont really play nice together. Logitech doesnt support OSX for the MX518, and although the mouse 'works' somewhat, it doesnt all work.
1. back and forward buttons by the thumb dont work at all
2. when i close the lid of my MBP and it sleeps, and then i open it again, the...
That is their policy. They might bend it by a day or two, but i cant believe they'd take back a 2month old laptop and give you a new one. Thats pretty much crap if they do that IMO.
