I can not recomend the 6800gt on principle alone because of the 'promised' h.264 acceleration that never materialized due to the broken purevideo processor. So I would say get the XL, many will disagree with me.

I just tested it on a 9800pro all in wonder at work. Playing 1080p video with WMV acceleration disabled in CCC = 45 dropped frames With WMV acceleration enabled = 0 dropped frames Also been tested by a few others on the Anandtech forum. It works.
